MEMORIAL DAY 2021

May we all stand in awe at the job well done by all (living or deceased) veterans around our great country. Some paid the ultimate cost for us all to live and be free. Thank each and every one of you guys who have done your share in keeping America FREE. May GOD truly bless you and your families in the days to come and hope you all have a great Memorial Day week-end.

When you think your day is going bad and want too give up. Just think real hard what was going though those soldiers heads as they get ready to step off that landing craft. But they did some died some lived for me and you. Or the ones that braved the cold in Korea the mud and cold of the trenches in world War 1. The long dark nights in the jungle of South East Asia. The hot day in the desert of Iraq Afghanistan Kuwait. All that have given there all for us God bless and there families thank you so much veterans of all war and conflicts for our great nation you are the real super hero's. God bless you all and thank you

I guess this shows how little I know, I thought and have always used Memorial Day to honor all who served. Living or dead. I think that even though I know better now I will continue this practice. THANKSO TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE SERVED

I was a USAF pilot for 24 years and served three tours in deployed air operations centers scheduling airlift. Every time I could figure out how to get a C-17 into a FOB it reduced the need for a convoy and that undoubtably saved lives, BUT.........

My service is nothing compared to my uncle. He was a flight engineer and top turret gunner on a B-17 for 33 missions over Germany. He was just a kid, 20-21. He flew three missions on D-Day and the plane was shot up badly on the third mission. He had a lot of funny stories about all that--like how they had to jettison bombs over the English Channel as they struggled to maintain altitude after being shot up.

However, the D-Day sorties weren't his last missions. He didn't remember what happened after D-Day and developed PTSD before they know much about it. He spent time in a mental hospital and was embarrassed about his service because of that. Imagine that, embarrassed because you saw things so horrific that your body said "ENOUGH!" and have you PTSD.

He said what put him over was watching all the bodies pile up on the beach, since they went in at 12,000 feet on D-Day. Even 70 years later, my aunt didn't like it when he'd talk too much about WW-II because he's be amped up and agitated for a long while afterwards. He passed in 2016.

Anyway, on Memorial Day I think of you Uncle Warren. Standing, second from left.
