The one powder....

If you could only have 1 powder in the reloading room for 6br, Dasher, bra, etc. Using 105-109 gr bullets, what would it be? Seeing as powder is up to $60.00 a lb. (rl16) and being retired, the cash river is more a trickle, I have to find a powder that will be the best fit for the 6mm cartridges I shoot....I know there isn't just 1, but if restricted to 1, what would it be? Thanks for any input, the knowledge here is what I trust....rsbhunter

I had considered going to H4895, but,like Varget awhile back, it's unobtainium. Does anyone have any experience with World shooter "precision rifle", as compared to Varget? I understand that I'm going to have to drop $300.00-500.00 on an 8 lb-er, but I can't do 2 or 3 at once. Anyway, I appreciate any and all thoughts, advice and input on this ...rsbhunter

For years I ran with IMR4895 it worked in everything from 223 to 7mm rem.mag.
I even tried it in my 22 hornet- it worked.

Money is an issue for many of us. In Heavy gun 600 yard IBS/Freedom Benchrest competition I have whooped some big time butts with 108 Bergers using Lovex/SHOOTERS WORLD Precision.

It is available and less expensive (well it used to be) than most all other appropriate powders. For more acceptance use the other powders recommended above. For something that has worked for me and worn out two or more barrels... You get the idea.

One powder than has been around and used for years in many, many caliber and cartridges, is 4895.

I own non of the calibers you have listed so my opinion probably means nothing but it cost you the same... I like powders that perform well in more than one caliber so I don't have to have a shelf full of different kinds of powder.... My spaces are full even with that thinking... Plus in these times you can buy that one or two powders more easily and buy a bunch of it when it comes around instead of looking for five different kinds... Not to mention just because powder brand x works for one shooter it maybe horrible for another... Testing is your friend.... Plus you get to go shoot... A win win....

H4895 is also my favorite for the cartridges listed but a close second in my book and generally available and cheaper than most is IMR4064. Try it, it may surprise you.

IMR 8208XBR gets my vote.
Used in my:
6mm DASHER, 6BR, 22 DASHER, 17FB, 6x45mm, etc.

I don't shoot competitively anymore, but use H4895 in many different cartridges from the 22 Hornet up to and including the 375 H&H.

H-4895 may not always produce the highest velocity, but it does produce the best accuracy, and this does includes the 32 cartridges I reload for...

This is why I have six 8 pound jugs of H4895 in the safe, plus a partial jug that that is being used this very minute to load for my 30-30 Ackley Improved, 7X30 Waters and 375 H&H that all will be used during this year's hunting seasons.
