The one powder....

IMR 4064 it is so close to IMR 4895 it isn't funny but for some reason I've had better luck with 4064. The only advantage of 4895 was it's smaller kernels that metered better through a meter. The only downfall to 4064 was the metering of it in a measure but I always weighed my charges so it was a non factor.
Do what you will but this has been my experience.

VV N150 is my go to for the 6BR and 105s, I like that it burns cooler than some of the popular choices and cleans up well too. Being able to shoot a screamer at 600 yards with my crappy vision and poor gun handling skills in 95* weather has proven to me at least my powder choice was good. Like the OP said dropping 600 bucks on a couple jugs of powder these days can be a little tough for some of us.

A couple of jugs of RL16 is about $885 now plus shipping and Haz.

I have been looking at VV N150 real hard for both my Dashers and a new 22 bra I'm building. It's almost funny, when the vv powders were the high cost option, people made them out to be golden...now there cheaper (some) and no one seems to care? Might bite the bullet( an old pulled one) and buy some n150. rsbhunter

8208 XBR works great in my 12 twist 6 BRA. I tried really hard to get it to work in my 8 twist BRA, but it just wouldn’t come together for me. That one ended up liking H 4895 and Varget.
Kinda makes sense with lighter bullets.
I don’t have any H4895 and very little varget but I do have a good bit of 8208.
Might try some 90’s with it and continue with R16 and 100+ bullets.

I’m in the same boat with plenty of 8208 and very little Varget and 4895. That’s why I wanted the 8208 to work so bad. I did have some success in the 8 twist while fire forming with 8208 and 95 grain bullets, but I could never dial in a decent load with fire formed brass. You might be on to something trying 90 grain bullets. If you think about it, I would be interested to hear how it works out for you.

This is the parts of the equation that I can't put together....I run 7 twist bbls, in the Norma Dasher and Lapua versions , and use 105s, 108s and 109s........I believe any of the powders will work, just looking for the general consensus of the best...rsbhunter
