The new Teslong NTG100H rigid bore scope.

My sample tool arrived this morning and got tested just now. I just plugged it in and it worked right away. It comes packaged in a cardboard tube with three extra mirror assemblies. I have a problem with the three mirrors fitting, though. They will not screw on the scope camera body, too tight.

The mirror from my flexible shaft unit fits good, and the three new ones fit the flexible tool good. I will let Teslong know of possible thread fit issues. I had no metric die that size to chase the body threads.

The tube looks to be stainless steel with a solid aluminum handle. There is ample flex cord to rotate the tool with no binding. The stop plug is a soft plastic material that slides and stays in place with a friction fit.

The first test is with my first .22 rifle as a youth. I got a fantastic birthday present in 1964. I had just received firearm safety certification from the Boy Scouts training program that fall. My parents bought me a brand new Marlin model 80. micro groove, 8 shot mag fed, with a walnut stock a couple of months later. No SN required on .22's back then. Dad said it cost him about $40.00 from a Western Auto store.

No telling how many rounds this rifle has fired. It presently wears a Leupold 4x compact scope.

This bore must be typical of a mass produced economy .22 of the day. It has a really crude bore and chamber with lots of tool marking. It shoots like a dream with WW hi speed Super-X solids.

ANY AND ALL PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ADD YOUR PICTURES AND POSTS TO THIS THREAD :)

Amazing bore shots. I have to really scratch my toolmaker head to figure how anything can be machined so ruff.
But . . .production quotas trump all.

I got an email on the 24th that they forgot to send my sample. On the way now. Very apologetic, which was certainly not necessary as their offer was quite gracious. Good bunch of people trying very hard to please their customer base, both current and future!

I should have started this in the bore scope section. If the Boss or moderator can move it please do. Or, just let it ride.

Im amazed at the quality of the pics and how great of condition that barrel is in. Not the quality of machining, though I have a couple that look worse.

Chapter 2, paragraph 3A........Using a Teslong to diagnose a Teslong.

Looks like the thread root on the rigid model is poorly formed and is shallow. This is why the mirrors will not screw on. It is difficult to hold these things steady free hand while clicking the mouse for a picture. My wife refused to assist me.

I have an email with these pictures sent to them with a brief explanation of problem.

Bad thread form.....rigid model.

Better thread form.....flexible model.

These are photos of a USRA M70 Featherweight CM .243 Win. I bought in 1988. It dropped two dozen deer and antelope in my wife's hands. I made the mistake of shooting some silhouette with it and ruined it in short order. She has an identical FW in .308 and has no clue the .243 is gone forever. Exact round count is 2475 with one load only, 44.0 grs. I 4831 with a Sierra 100gr. pro hunter spitzer. No effort to clean was made when pulled, just wet patch wiped and dried.

Have you tried to use the scope on the chamber end thru the action on a benchrest stock with a high comb? Any interference with the rotation of the handle?

All of my stocks are of the hunting rifle configuration. I will let you decide if there is room for handle clearance.:)

This set is from a fellow silhouette competitors rifle. He asked me just to pull it and did not want it back. It is SS and has no marking on it except for the chamber, .260 Bobcat. He never kept round count history, either. I do not even know what his load data was. His complaint was " I can't hit the broadside of a chicken anymore." It looked to be a quality product at one time near the muzzle.

The photos give a clue as to why it quit shooting. The nasty is over three inches long.

Clean it. You have a perfect opportunity here to test cleaning methods and products.

Wet that sucker up with Boretech Eliminator and let it sit. Then bronze brush 40 strokes. Then repeat and take pictures again.

It's not like you are going to ruin it... but you might get an idea what it really takes to clean a barrel. You also might be surprised what is under all that gunk. :)

Hmmm....I think it will just be a copper and carbon free disaster. Too much effort.;)

Last one from me today. These are from a Ruger M77R in 7x57, 22" CM barrel. I bought it new in 1990 to use in hunter class silhouette. Right away the magic load was 43.0 RL-15, 140 gr. Sierra pro hunter bullet and CCI 200 primers. The ram load was a 168 SMK with 40.0 grs. RL-15. It remained silhouette accurate for 4820 shots. I loaned that gun to a few new shooters that got hooked and still shoot with us today.

I painstakingly fitted the M77 with a new Remington CM 24" 7MM-08 take off barrel. I used the original chamber that required a .061 thick 4140 shoulder washer to accommodate the dimensional action differences. Purely by chance the barrel marking ended up in the correct location. I still shoot it often.

Mine arrived today and the mirrors fit perfectly. Must have been a production glitch on yours. Came with 3 mirrors. No time to play with it right now. Too busy with "to do" list making room for Mama's new piano delivery.
