The Mighty 22-250

Bad storms last night, decided to go out this morning. Overcast, very humid and switchy 10-15 mph winds. We sat up on a tall hill overlooking some barns and equipment. Buddy spotted this one, a crawler. It was my ups do I waited till she stuck her head up a tick and let 'er go. 250 yards. Tail salute.

Maybe its time l shoot that used 22-250 Rem700 VLS I picked up last year off AA. Seller said the trigger broken because the safety wouldn't work. Kenny Jarrett's boy, Jay said it was fine. Trigger was a real ''JEWEL''.. Literally twas/is a Jewel trigger.. 0nly 22 cal bullets l have are 40gr... They have killed in a 221FB, 222 & 223REM. l suppose they will do in a 22-250.. Not my fav 40gr VMAX, but these Nosler 40s should do OK. Sadly only varmints we have around Aug Ga are Whitetail deer and stray dogs... That's why l heed the call of Horace Greely and GO WEST;-)

Horace Greeley - "go west young man" -- that was Western PA & OH at the time. Try the Dakotas - now. Uh, you can buy other bullets than 40g, sir. Shoot me a pm if you are headed out & I'll advise couple areas to consider. Why don't you drive? It's a beautiful country, the U.S. 50g in a 22-250 is a nice match.

Not with a 22/250, but had to highlight this. My fellow GH assassin, John, took our Gunsmiths young sons out yesterday while I was running the shop. Little man nailed this one at between 260 - 270 yards with a dad built 6.5x47 L.

Thought you guys might enjoy this.

"ten dollars sez he picks his nose"...Caddyshack.

Another fine Bill Murray film.

Nice shot Reb
"Another ten says he eats it . . ."

Now you've done it! The Caddyshack loop will be playing in my head all day!

Where's my big Maglite? Gonna tape it to the .22-.250 AI and go shoot something in the dark. I live on a golf course, too. Oh, this is going to be bad.

New beans after the wheat has been harvested. Spotted this one yesterday, set up this evening and killed it. Had the neighbor confront me, asked what the hell did I think I was doing......
In 60 words or less he cooled his jets, I now have his cell number and he has mine.
Folks gotta cock their leg and try to mark territory, even if ain't theirs. I could have hit him as soon as he said something, but where would we be now....
Much better off with diplomacy with a tic of " I'm not taking your sh$t. " attitude.

Do they always sleep outside of thier dens belly up like that ?????

Yup. They're waiting for some soft heart to come by and rub their belly.

Mine is a 788. It's topped with an old 10x Weaver C-10, has the crispest trigger I've ever caressed and is the most accurate rifle I've ever shot, but it hasn't been out of the safe in fifteen years. Boy it sure likes those Federal 40gr. Blitz.

After reading this whole thread, now I just want to go out and find a fresh mowed alfalfa field.

Those little holes are cute with that 22-250. I like this better:
Christ Jesus Patton, I don't hunt marmots with a grenade launcher like you do.
Guess that does up your kill rate. The rifle is loud as it is, no need to call more attention to myself. You know how it is here.....
Also - there is no degree of dead. It is what it is....dead. So mine with them little holes are just as dead as that train wreck you posted, with less powder and less bullet:D

I just bought my first 22-250. I have the Savage 110 Storm because it's left-hand and stainless. I actually bought it and fully plan to swap the barrel for another 6BR as my main coyote rig. I don't really want another caliber and never really been a fan of the 22-250. But I plan to shoot it to see if I'm missing something other than cheap ammo. I'm looking forward to shooting it soon.
