When I started shoot long range in 2015 the firing line at the 1000 yard Nationals and 600 yard Nationals both looked like chickens pecking corn. A few of the Top guys had a similar style. But like Johnny said now 90 percent of the firering line looks stays down on the gun. That's the way 90% of the line does it at 600 & 1k group shooting. Gotta get em in that wind condition happening at 1st shot.
Notice the bolt manipulation. Easy, no Hard lift. Head stays down. Front rest returns to poa ...

It was the same way in short range back in the day, Until Tony Boyer started giving shooting lessons around 2001. But that style of shooting comes directly from Allie Euber and Tony Boyer.

Work on your sandbags first. Gotta get the return to point of aim down to run fastCurious to know how you setup extraction and firing pin cocking to create what appears to be effortless bolt cycling? One can’t see any stock motion due to the force being applied to the bolt handle! Getting my rifles to return so quickly and repeatedly to the same POA is currently my biggest challenge…
Would you elaborate on this a bit?Work on your sandbags first. Gotta get the return to point of aim down to run fast
The less you have to readjust after each shot the faster youll beWould you elaborate on this a bit?

Johnny,@BartsBullets you're being called a "master" now.
Next time i see you I'll be sure and give you chit about it !
My hat is off to you for your scores and mannerisms at the range. (And the Mrs BB also).
Dusty, I guess I'm an idiot. The less you have to readjust after each shot the faster youll be

Master, Sensei, Guru, Sage, Teacher whatever you’re comfortable with!
Looking forward to seeing you and shooting with you this year.

BTW I can 2 to 3 seconds off that run.
Sorry!Dusty, I guess I'm an idiot.
I followed what you were saying just fine. I was asking how that is accomplished. How do you do that? What do you look for? What are the things you recognize right away as an issue with the bags?

Having a Bat Action helps to start with. I full length resize every time with .002 clearance on head space. The firing pin has a 20 to 21 pound spring on it.Curious to know how you setup extraction and firing pin cocking to create what appears to be effortless bolt cycling? It's funny how so many shooters have a hard time believing much less doing everything you just said there. We see so many with bad habits and bad ideas.Having a Bat Action helps to start with. One trick is my thumb is at the back of the bolt and it’s pushing down on the stock as the bolt opens.
