A nice selection of WWII "war birds" was in Lynchburg VA today in preparation for the 75th D-Day activities at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford VA. Humbling to look at those aircraft and think about the boys that became men flying them.

My Dad and most other WWII vets are gone now, many of the family names that fought that war have faded into history but I thank all veterans from every conflict, declared or otherwise, that our country has been involved in. I also thank the families of the men who never got to come home.

Thank you!

Very proud to say my grandfather who received a medal from the French government about 15 years ago fought in the battle at Omaha beach on D day. He said the whole day all they could do is put their rifles over the top of rocks they were trying to hide behind and just shoot. Did not even know if they were hitting the Germans, but that’s all they could do at one point because of the amount of bullets wizzing by his head. Very proud to say he was there, and also glad he survived or my whole family would not be here today. Amazing to hear his stories before he died a few years back. They really were the greatest generation

There is some US veterans already hare but the most is arriving by sea this morning by sea from Plymouth to attend the ceremonies at Colleville-Omaha cimetary. One 101th AB veteran, aged 97, jumped again yesterday over Ste Mere Eglise, showing the US flag.

Thanks to all of them, particularily the fallen, for our freedon.
Those who did not lived the D-Day cannot imagine what it represented for us here.
My place (close to the real point where amaricans and canadian-polish met to close the Falaise-Chambois gap, was liberated by the americans on 20th August 44.

Our own commemoration is on the Sunday the closedt to the 22d August, date when officially ended the Battle of Normandy.
