Honor Our Veterans Today, Nov. 11

On the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month of 1918, bugle calls signaled the ‘cease fire’ ending the First World War. (The official Armistice was signed earlier that morning.) To those who endured it, WWI was the “Great War”, “the War to End All Wars.” Tragically, an even greater conflict consumed the world just two decades later.

Today, 94 years after the end of WWI, Americans mark the anniversary of the WWI Armistice as “Veterans Day”. In Canada it is known as Remembrance Day. On this solemn occasion we honor all those who have served in the military in times of war and peace.

While more WWII veterans pass away each year, there are still over 23 million veterans in the United States. Take time today to honor those soldiers, sailors, and airmen who have served their nation with pride. Today we remember that… “All gave some, and some gave all.”

I personally would like to thank on behalf of my family and myself, thank you for your service whether it be foreign or domestic. I cant tell you how proud I am being a son of a WW11 veteran.Have a blessed day to all.

Thanks to all, appreciate all you do and have done, I hold you in the highest regard.

I am saddened by the fact that only 4 post where made and only 64 views to this thread. Has it gotten that bad?

Today, gov offices, banks and such are closed for the celebration of Veterans Day yesterday, how many will spend the day today, to reflect on the those that have served.

I guess I am just ranting here. But to me, everyday is a Veterans Day when I meet a vet and I thank them for their service.

There is nothing like the joy of seeing a vet and thanking them for their service to our Nation.

Froggy, Don't be sad. Many of us were out & about involved in activities of the day. All the best to our Vets! (please imagine a sharp salute here)

I was gone most of the day yesterday. At Church we thanked every branch of Military Service, 1 by 1, with a standing ovation. The young children handed out thank you's to them all while a slide screen played. I thank you all , Men and Women both, again thank you all for keeping the wolf back from the door. I'm sorry that I seen this late.
