Texas Porkers:another one gone

I want to go pig hunting so bad.
Didn't see were your from but here in Texas you can find farmers/ranchers that will let you take as many as you want for free.... It's getting harder to find because people found out others will pay money for it.... Back down south you see them dumped all the time , they can't kill them fast enough... Lately I have been seeing huge cattle trailers pack with live ones being taken to fenced hunting places...

Here is a target on a typical practice session with my Goblin Killer. 108 Berger with Starline brass.

That is a gas gun. There are plenty of quarter inch groups on that board.20191221_153832.jpg

It really is all about the money when it comes to finding a place to hunt pigs, really stinks to see it come down to someone having to pay to get rid of them. Hopefully those transporting live feral hogs are following the rules.
From the TPWD rules book: Transportation and release of live feral hogs is unlawful, unless in compliance with Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) regulations. The TAHC regulates the movement of feral swine for disease-control purposes. For more information please call TAHC at (800) 550-8242 or visit the Texas Animal Health Commission website.

Hang'em high, Dan

That's the problem I have with pig hunting at night. I can either sleep, or hunt, but I can't do both. But I did talk to one guy who was going pig hunting in the late morning. Say's he gets plenty off a farm during the daylight hours that he alone has permission to hunt.

Texas now has open season all year on pigs, no license required. Next step will be a bounty I suppose. It is said that we'd have to kill 75% of all the pigs in the state every year just to hold the population to where it is today.

And if a swine flu breaks out that is contagious to humans, WE'RE SCREWED!

Exactly , I have seen trailers to the size you wouldn't believe.... With hundreds of f pigs.. back home we would shoot them like crazy....You don't even need a license to kill them here on private property anymore...

My Ferral Fantasies: Dumb Pigs get Shot; Smart Pigs become Large Hogs
#1 Long Distance Shooting - I keep dreaming of a hunt where I can deploy "God's Hammer" and drop pigs at distance (+300 - 1000)... I always end up hunting in heavy cover with average shot at 50 yards.
#2 Daylight Shooting - I dream about sleeping in my own bed. Where I hunt the pigs are large (small pig #120) which means they are smart...so they only move at night.
#3 Entice Pigs - I thought I could maybe get pigs to respond during Daylight so I bought a game caller and a pig game app. The setup works great, but I end up using it more in my living room to the enjoyment of my 4 year old.
#4 Someone else to clean them the next morning after I have stayed up all night.

Best thing TPWD did was make it where you didn't need a license to hunt on private property, I hope that gets more people in the hunt, but a person hunting public land better have one and the proper permits to hunt there.
I saw so many pigs last deer season I couldn't believe my eyes when I would shoot a pig in the morning and the same group would be back later that day or very next morning. 1 shot and they would run, if I was lucky I might get a running shot on another. Last couple years I would pick off one from the pack and they would avoid my feeders for a while, but not this year.
