Tell me about suppresors

With the new laws coming out I decided to get one. Local shop had it in stock, I still have to pay for it and fill papers ( next week). From my understanding it has to be in the mail before July 13th. I am already on a trust and I am adding this to the trust, pay tax stamp and wait.....
Other than the paper work and the $$$ is there anything Else to it? I am getting an Omega, shop recommend it, hope I have done ok.
Plan to put it on 260ai,280ai, ar-15 6.5 Grendel, and ad-15 .223. This is just a "I want one", and the cool factor before the left wing makes it harder.

I am considering getting one (Omega) for my 308 after shooting my friends nice (AAC) on his 338. I will add it to my trust as well. Don't know about the July13 thing.
Don't know a lot about them but my rim fire Hunter is quieter after the first round.
Shooting sub sonic rounds are the most fun since the fluffer nutter samich. They are cool!

Paul, how did the F1 form filing go with the ATF? I thought about making my own as well. They can be had for less then I care to stand in front of a machine for.

Actually a very simple process. You just pick your own serial number and give them an overall length and wait for the stamp to arrive. One you have the stamp in hand, then you can build. Very cool with the first pull of the trigger. And then you are hooked.:D:D

New law going into affect. The local law enforcement will no longer be required to sign off on the purchase. Now the checks are going through the fbi and atf. If anything is added to a trust, everyone on it has to send in all paper work, including 2 sets of finger print, 2 passport IDs.

Just more paper work and time....

Whatever happened to the talk that rules were going to relax due to some hearing protection legislation?

I'm guessing I have a pretty good idea.

From what I have read by taking it out of local LE hands they are saying that it will be easier for some people to get them because some local LE are not signing off for the buyers. But to me every time that the Feds get involved with anything, well we all know how that ends.
From what I understand the biggest changes is that the local LE will not be singing off on the purchase. If a trust is already in place then all persons on the trust have to fill paper work, have 2 sets of prints, and send in 2 passport pictures. There is also another form to be completed, which is then sent to ATF then to FBI. I don't know everything that will be involved but everyone I talk to says if you want one then you better be getting it done. Any thing new filed for has to be post marked no later that July 12th, after that then who knows.

I've got a few Elite Iron, Bravo model cans. Use them on everything from .308 win, to 6.5 x 47 Lapua and a .223 AI. It is SO NICE to shoot without the NOISE! I shoot my .223 AI a few times a week here at home out to 510 yds. Great practice and experience. ONLY way I can do this is because I have the suppressor. My neighbors have no idea I'm shooting a high powered rifle as the noise is more like a .22 short.

At my Range we have a roof over the benches at the 200 yd rifle range and anything shot underneath is noisier. I can comfortably shoot for extended periods without getting a headache.

Recoil is also reduced allowing one to spot your shots at LR far easier.

Yes the paperwork IS BS, but doubt that will ever change. I have never regretted buying my suppressors.

To all that can use a supressor, consider yourself fortunate you have paperwork and can get them. I live in a state where there is a total ban on their possession and use, Delaware. I hunt two other states and they're legal there and would love to enjoy the noise reduction on my groundhog rifles but I can't even do that due to the law.

Our local shop carry them in stock. They file all paper work if a trust is already set up. If not then they will direct you to a lawyer that will help with setting up everything. Bolt flutter send me pm, I will send you number of shop, if they can help they will, if not then they can direct you to someone local who can.

Your country is going backwards !!!

In Canada we had to REGISTER ALL FIREARMS. It proved to be a HUGE taxpayers expense that did nothing for the safety of others.

Thank god former Prime Minister Harper scrapped the long gun registry, but handguns and AR-15 type rifles still must be registered.
