Question about suppressor purchase

Here is something you may wish to consider. When you first get the trust just have yourself listed on the trust. Because when you purchase a suppressor it is my understanding that everyone on the trust must submit their finger prints. Once you have a couple suppressors in the trust and you think you won't add many more then amend the trust to add additional members.. Guys help me out on this am I in the ball park or not on this?

so if I have no heirs why would I want a trust?

correct

Responsible persons may be added to the trust after *approval* of supressors without filing atf forms and submitting prints/pictures. If you add another supressor after adding these members they must all submit paperwork as a responsible person.

so if I have no heirs why would I want a trust?

if you have friends you’d let borrow your suppressor

Or

if you don’t want your name *as* associated with the item come government overreach scenarios

Guys, as always everyone was most helpful. I appreciate everyone’s input. I spoke with a gentleman at Silencer Shop and he gave me a lot of good info. I didn’t realize it but one of my customers is a dealer for them. He suggested I look at a Dead Air Sandman. I had originally asked about a thunderbeast and they had a 5-7 month backlog. Does anyone have experience with the Dead Air Sandman? I don’t shoot competitively, just for fun and hunting. Mainly shoot a 300 WM, 30-06, and a 6mm Rem.
Thanks

Trusts are great: but I got mine before you had to fingerprint and photograph everyone. I can add to it and my lawyer can amend the trust as far as trustees, heirs, and etc. In my case I had a guy in my state who did them for $100 and he also spent 30 minutes or so on the phone explaining everything to me and answering questions. If you have someone in your state that specializes in suppressor trusts, I suggest you use them because they will be familiar with local laws/regulations, etc.

Trusts take longer to get through the process. My NFA guy said that multiple suppressors are going through faster when all are submitted at once. He also mentioned that people who had multiple suppressors purchased over time are getting them back a little faster once the ATF recognizes the applicant and realizes he has been through the background checks before. Form 1's to manufacture your own are much faster and there are quality components out there to build your own if you want quick.

Remember to keep a copy of your paperwork with you where ever you go because it could make things easier with an LEO that is not familiar with the laws.

Silencerco Hybrid 46 is the most adaptable I know of, from handguns to magnums in one unit.

If you want to do a Trust,do an individual Trust. Then once you get approved you can add whomever you like to the trust, and only you will have to submit fingerprints and photo's on the application.
Later,if you want to buy another item, then everyone on the trust would have to submit them,or you could just start another Individual Trust and repeat adding people to it after you get the stamp.

I didn't have to do this on mine, I listed my son and wife, there were no additional background checks or fingerprints, just 13 months of waiting!

My NFA trust is the ONLY attorney fee of a dozen or so i have been connected to since 1984 that has had the desired effect, has not backfired, turned into a bigger mess/ endless abyss. There are many facets to how it is done. I believe it allows multiple legal ownership posession and access without wait or penalty once complete. I do not dispute which or when background checks. Individual ownership upon death no one can legally even have in their posession take it to law enforcement for disposition without threat of penalty.
Having one done corrrectly and understanding the law is the holders responsibility.
