TC 22-250?

I am considering having a custom 22-250 barrel made for my new TC Encore pro hunter frame and was wondering what you guys think about barrel length? I want as short as humanly possible while retaining long range accuracy...I was thinking 22 inches or maybe even 20???? Am I dreaming...if so what would be the shortest? 300-400 yard shot would be made regularly. Thanks in advance for the help.

I know of a few 22/250 AI's that have been chambered in short,16-18) inch XP-100 barrels and shot very well at 300 yards plus.
You'll loose some velocity but the critters don't seem to mind very much...

Blacknwhite 24" is the minimum that I would do.

Too much muzzle flip with anything shorter IMHO.

Who are you thinking of letting build your barrel?

I was thinking Match grade machine...unless someone knows something I dont.

MGM is an outstanding company with some of the best customer service I've seen in my life. I was ready to give up on my 20VT,sitting in my closet for 1 month) because remington was dragging their feet. When I called and explained my problem to them and to find the charge to resize to 20 VT Turbo, they offered to do it... The only charge they were going impose was the shipping. My barrel looks great; fit and finish, and shoots great. I ended up with a "22 factory heavy SS so that I could use my existing fore end. Good luck and I promise you won't be disappointed with MGM.
