Tales from the creedmoor aisle

Even when i was a kid i could look at a cartridge out of the box and kinda tell something about it. Like a 308 is smaller than a 30-06 and a 7-08 was smaller than a 7mm mag. When i look at a creedmoor i wonder what magical abilities it has over a 260 or 6.5x47.

You can buy a CM rifle off the rack at Cabela's, grab a box of target ammo, throw a hundred buck scope on it and go shoot an inch or less at a hundred yards off of a Caldwell lead sled. Instant gratification, that's what it's all about in today's world. Along with ballisticians and marketing gurus, I bet Hornady hired psychologists. Can't fault them for that. They're in business to make money.

Those other two cartridges? They require work, persistence, patience and dedication. For the majority of Creedmoor shooters it relieves them of all that.

Off topic. Listen in on the crossbow aisle, 80 yard shots with a 400 fps Xbow, nothing to it.

Yes I shoot a custom built one and love it. But I still love to hear the “ You Know” guys stories at the gun shops!
How about the stories about the .357 magnum that can disintegrate an engine block, or the 45ACP that can kill a guy if he gets hit in the thumb with one. Shotguns that just have to be pointed in the general direction to destroy anything that a way. Candy bars that wont melt in your hand. Like I said, the Creedmoor is just the new flavor.

Dude I was there when guys came back from The 'Nam with stories about scorpions as long as your...... leg. And women that.... and leeches that..... and most famously true stories about 50BMG's taking that guy's leg OFF without ever hitting him.

A near miss with Ma Deuce would "create a vacuum and suck your breath right out" and yer buddy better be right there to blow it back in

or you died...

That's why good scopes have a dial on the left side marked in yards. Just turn the dial to the yardage and shoot....
I actually hunted with a guy and thats exactly what he did more than once. A coyote was 600 yards ranged & laying on a hill side. He turned his side "range wheel" and and hit about 30 feet below it. I just laughed and rolled my eyes when he said "I dialed it in".
