Talented engineers, how come ...

There are talented engineers and machinist in this sport. How come there isn't a reliable primer tube filler device?

If you can find one, the PAL by Umberto works very well. But it's hard to find.

Vibra Prime works OK.

The Double Alpha I had was garbage. Probably the worst reloading tool I've purchased.

The same reason there isn't a vehicle built that will last a lifetime. The initial cost would be prohibitive and inevitably, people want new things simply because they tire of looking at the old things.
In short, no one wants what you're asking for.
People are very odd creatures. What they say they want very seldom aligns with their behavior.

And... my Double Alpha Prima-Fill works *beautifully*. The Vibra-Prime works 'okay', but the Double Alpha makes the Vibra-Prime look like the cheap POS that it is ;)

There was a better system altogether — APS strip primers from RCBS.

This performs flawlessly for me with a progressive press, benchtop tool, and hand tool.

I can switch from small to large primers in 5 minutes on the progressive press, and in 5 seconds with the hand tool.

Loaded in strips, the primers are easy (and secure) to store and there is no issue of flipping primers in a tray.

Very sadly, RCBS no longer sells APS equipment, but you can still buy the primers in strips. I still have 14,000 CCI 450s factory loaded in strips.

I hope some other company, such as Area419, will produce APS tools again.

I believe it is the best and safest high volume priming system by far. When load testing, I use the hand tool and can switch primer types in seconds. Different types are kept in different colored strips.

The old Texan progressive shotgun loaders had long tubes that
were easily and quickly filed. I think i remember they had a capacity
of 100 primers.

I never saw such for rifles but would think someone could invent one if
the $$$ incentive were there,

Tried most of the handprimers on the market with trays, best is still the old round tray Lee, the square tray versions suck. RCBS hand units aren't terrible, but, not great. I have a Forster and an RCBS bench unit, like the RCBS better to fill, Forster is OK, but is a bit of a learning curve, works best with their fill tray.
