Talented engineers, how come ...

I have been using the Hornandy vibratory primer tube filler, it looks like a .45 auto and is red. I got it for sale for about $24. They are more now. It will fill a primer tube in about 10-15 seconds once you get the hang of it. If I was buying one now I would probably go with the Alpha, it looks even easier to to use.

Dam! the price really went up. I defiantly would go with the Alpha at this updated price.

I now own three Dillons; in order of purchase: 550, 750, 1050. I can tube a hundred primers in less than a minute. I have yet (knock on wood) to tube one upside down.
Doesn't get any better than that...

I have RCBS and Dillon primer tubes and like the tips on Dillon better they're smoother feeding than my 80s vintage RCBS tubes which work just fine and are what I use for large and small rifle.

There was a better system altogether — APS strip primers from RCBS.

This performs flawlessly for me with a progressive press, benchtop tool, and hand tool.

I can switch from small to large primers in 5 minutes on the progressive press, and in 5 seconds with the hand tool.

Loaded in strips, the primers are easy (and secure) to store and there is no issue of flipping primers in a tray.

Very sadly, RCBS no longer sells APS equipment, but you can still buy the primers in strips. I still have 14,000 CCI 450s factory loaded in strips.

I hope some other company, such as Area419, will produce APS tools again.

I believe it is the best and safest high volume priming system by far. When load testing, I use the hand tool and can switch primer types in seconds. Different types are kept in different colored strips.

I think that a lot of the times shooters are hesitant to adopt or are a bit nervous about new technology.

I put primers in a primer tray, just to keep them contained and easy access. Then pick up one at a time, put in my K&M hand primer and seat. No tubes needed with this simple setup!

Mine is similar and from Frankford Arsenal. I am done with it. Hence my post.

I may just stick with picking up from tray one at a time.

An inovater / inventor spends a ton of time and capital creating a new solution - then Hornady copies the invention, changes one small detail or alters a dimension by 0.001, paints it red, and brings in the marketing department.

Ask how Husqvarna feels about Stihl... It's just not worth the time.

You would if you had my hands. They cramp horribly trying to fill those tubes one at a time. The Double Alpha filler is worth every penny.

If you have to load them individually, do yourself a huge favor and buy the Dillon primer tube replacement tips (or splurge and buy the Dillon primer tubes.) They require about a third the effort that RCBS or Hornady tubes require to slip over a primer.

it's not the tubes or the tips. It's the way I have to hold the tube, the grip, the motion, the repetition, that causes my hands to scream in agony. The Double Alpha filler solves all the issues. Dump the primers into the machine, shake to get them all correct side up, insert tube and push the button. Once the tube is inserted it takes maybe 10 seconds to load a tube. There is no way to load one at a time and put 100 primers in the tube in 10 seconds. I understand Dillon has a primer tube filler also, but it is a great deal more money than the D.A.

The CPS has not been copied yet. At least not that I know of.

There are talented engineers and machinist in this sport. How come there isn't a reliable primer tube filler device?
They're all designed to be engineering puzzles. They work great if you're an engineer!
