Tactical 20

My Redding dies got here yesterday. I took the advice of a few members here...Resized the 223 brass..wiped & carefully Imperial wax lubed The neck & body lightly...Ran the sized deprimed case into the Tac 20 seating die with the stem removed..Worked just fine as a form die, thanks guys...Then put those cases thru the full lenght sizing tac 20 die...Viola..A real neat clean looking Tac 20 case...The necks appear very uniform ...Until I get the rifle back I'm not sure anymore can be done to this batch of Federal Brass...I used some of this stuff in a 223 & noted the primer pockets seemed loose..Maybe I should try to find a Different primer ..I use CCI reg & mag small rifle ...mike in ct

Mike,

If I understand you correctly, the primer pockets loosened up after you used the Federal Brass on some 223 loads? If I got it wrong, please ignore the rest of this post. If I got it right, then keep in mind that loose primer pockets is usually,99% of the time) a sign of too much pressure and not necessarily a problem of the brand of primer you are using, unless you are right at the edge of the over pressurization threshold and you happenn to pick a real hot primer like Federal, but that is not likely.

I would back off on the powder a little and see what happens. Also keep in mind that the Tac-20 is a very high pressure cartridge to begin with,if you are running a 32 gr pill over 4000+ fps). Most people use IMI because of this reason. IMI is as good as Lapua, but a lot cheaper if you can find some.

Good luck,
Kory

Yes kory I was running a pretty stiff load of H-380 & a 60 gr bullet in those fed 223 cases..damn thing shot consistant one hole groups...cant find the pic to prove it but The load loosened up the fed primer pockets..no hard bolt lift no flattening so I'm going to take your word for it..loose pockets not a good situation...I got ahold of some LC '02 & WCC '03 223 brass & reformed those into tac 20 as well ...when the gun gets back here we will see.........mike in ct
