Tack Driver 6

When I first heard of the match, my first thought was that I would want to shoot a 30 of some description. In fact, my first thought was to just shoot a 308 Winchester, and I haven't discarded that plan yet. The choice will be between a 30 BR and a 308. The 30 BR is easier to shoot, but I've done real well in the (distant) past with a 308. Testing will make up my mind or it will just add to my already advanced state of confusion. It could be, I would do as well to look into voodoo as a path to success. WH

In the Gulf Coast region of the NBRSA, there have been documented incidents with chicken bones and voodoo coming into play at a few matches.

I hope I didn't violate the first rule of the chicken bone voodoo club just now.

Im far from an expert score shooter. Last years TD was my first score match I have shot, first short range type match I have shot for that matter. I know theres a lot of complaints about seeing holes. What worked for me was to learn my hold for the flag condition I wanted to shoot in. When the flags where right, I held and shot. Dont need to see the holes every time. The biggest mistake I made was getting impatient and going to the sighter to learn a new condition and shot a 7.

While I agree with this method, if you cant see where your sighter is hitting, you don't know where to hold, and then you shoot.more 7's.

I checked my targets from TD 5. If the shots landed the same a .30 would have only given me 2 more points than the 6 ppc did. That said, I probably couldn't have shot the 30br as fast/easy so for me it's a wash.

I dont shoot ppc.... does the ppc fight the wind better at 300 meters than the 30br?

I did the same comparison. I think I would have picked up 3 points with a 30 cal, but I have never had a 30 that shot well enough to be competitive with my 22 ppcs.
