Suppressor question

Banish 30 is titanium. Very lite and it has the ability to be 7" or 9". Just under 1000.00. Permit being 206.00 puts the package at 1200+. Excellent suppressor. The Nomad 30 around 800.00 offers a partial titanium suppressor around 6.5" in length. Around 1000.00 with permit. 11-13oz. Excellent as well and full lifetime warranty like the Banish 30. Thunderbeast Ultra 7 around 1200.00/1400.00 with permit. Titanium and the lightest of all. 7" suppressor with a lifetime warranty. All perform around 50% reduced recoil (claimed by the companies). Mine is a Banish 30. Next one will be the Thunderbeast 338 Ultra

I have used my gen 1 thunderbeast ultra 9 on my .243 for a couple years now. When I take it off and my kids shoot it I put the area 419 hellfire on the rifle. It feels like a .22 with that muzzle brake. The suppressor definitely has more recoil then the muzzle brake, but not much.

I tried the ultra 9 on my 300RUM and I personally will never run a suppressor on a big magnum ever again. The recoil impulse was too much for me. It was ok with 190 gr bullets, but with 230’s it was not fun to shoot. That rifle with a muzzle brake is no problem to shoot. I am also not a big guy so maybe

I will be trying the suppressor on my 25prc when it is finished and I think it will work well on that rifle.

DITTO ON THE YHM 30CAL SUPRRESSOR.
GREAT ON A BOLT GUN.

WORKS GREAT AND HALF PRICE OF MY SUREFIRES.

Otter creek labs hydrogen L. I love mine on my 284. Super quiet and light. I use the rearden atlas mount with a Liberty precision Liberty bell muzzle device.

The suppressor will add weight to your rifle. In my head, that's where the recoil reduction comes in, although a brake added to the end of the suppressor should help. The Silencerco Harvester weighs 11 oz. The Silencerco Omega also adds a little over 14 oz. I have a Silencerco Hybrid 46 that weighs 14 oz in the direct thread configuration and if I wanted I could add the muzzle brake end cap that the Omega and Harvester use.

Other suppressors may weigh more or less. However, I will not buy another Silencerco because their customer service, when I had two problems with my Hybrid, was not very good. And their quick attach system is prone to failure.

Suppressors come long or short, heavy or light, direct thread or quick attach - only you can decide what factors are important to you. When I put my Hybrid 46 on my Tikka CTR in 6.5 Creedmoor I can watch my bullet impact steel at 500 yds. through the scope. It's pretty awesome to see the impact and afterward hear the sound.

So, as I said, in my head, the added weight will reduce recoil.
If you don’t mind me asking, what kind of problems did you have with the Hybrid?

I put the ASR quick attach system on the 3 rifles that I use with the Hybrid. But, I mainly use it on an AR that is my work rifle. It rides on tractors and in ATV's and I am likely to pick it up to use in a deer stand to shoot does.

Long story made short - I shot at a doe and the silencer launched off my rifle and into broom straw under the stand. I could not find it that evening and went back the next day to find it. The ASR mount had not held the suppressor tight and it drooped enough that the bullet punched a new hole in the end cap and the rpms spun it off. I had the end cap sized for the .22 caliber bullets and since the Hybrid lets you use different sized end caps, it was easy to put in a new one. I contacted Silencerco and the sent a link to a video that showed how to tighten the ASR springs so that would not happen again. The rep said he would send an end cap, but they never did even after I sent emails reminding them. That cost me $92 because their ASR system has flaws.
If I had been using direct thread, it would not have been a problem.

Then there was the time I took the end cap off and when I went to take the suppressor off the rifle, the whole outer tube came off the baffle stack. I emailed Silencerco and they said put Locktite on the baffle stack, reassemble it and and let it dry.

Otherwise as far as accuracy effects and sound reduction, I like the suppressor just fine.

There are other alternative mounting systems that are compatible with the Hybrid and if I had known about them, I would not have used the ASR system. Now, it's pricey to switch because you have to be a mount to go on the hybrid and compatible muzzle devices.

So, their customer service, at least to me, lacks something. I recently ordered two more suppressors, a Rugged Oculus rimfire and a Thunderbeast 22 Takedown.

The main thing I liked is the availability of options to configure the Hybrid and I still like this feature. But, at least in my experience with them promising an end cap and not honoring that promise, I don't care to do business with them any more.

While I’m disheartened to hear about their customer service, I’ve seen this same outcome many times in my research across a bunch of different brand of cans. It always seems to be with rapid attachment mounts. I opted for a hybrid myself, just because of all the configuration options and needing a 45 cal, mag rated can. I’m going direct thread only so wish me luck.

I would like to add that had you sent the Hybrid back to SilencerCo, they probably would have replaced the end cap for free with their inspection process. I read of tons of guys who have had issues but all were resolved and quickly so I’m not sure why you had such a problem. A lot of guys put smaller end caps on, then forget and blow a large bullet through the small end. I guess that’s the down side to all the interchangeability of the hybrid. It’s always covers 100% even when it’s operator error.

I'm not sure why my case was handled in the way it was. To me, a promise is a promise and he was speaking for Silencerco.

I believe that customer service is designed to keep the customer happy even when there is a failure. This in turn gains the customers confidence, and helps bring in new business. For whatever reason, this process broke down with me and I now have 4 suppressors, one Silencerco (my first suppressors) two Ruggeds, and one Thunderbeast - not 4 Silencercos.

Silencer Shop keeps daily updates on suppressor approval numbers:

Silencer Shop is a little over zealous on their approval time frames. Visit the Reddit page dedicated to approvals to get the real scoop.

Update; I have the suppressor. I picked it up a few weeks ago. I totally was like huh and then was like ohh yeah, LOL. I forgot about it. I am still waiting on my rifle. It’s at long range rifles inc in that state where the bikers have that yearly bike rally. Anyways, I got one of them GRS rifle sticks from Norway, and I am having them inlet it and also thread the barrel. I imagine it should be home again one of these Christmases. Life has me entertained with my other skillsets so whenever I get to shoot it, I guess I will see how it works then. While yes I am excited, I since have gotten even more excited about buying another GRS stocks for my Sako AII Varmint 243 Winny. I have become super fascinated with the 6mm/243 caliber. I am shocked I did not shoot it earlier in life. It’s such a fun caliber. Anyways going to fix me up a real sweet rifle, my go to gun. I will post an update once I get the 7Mag shooting.

Are you going to install a brake which you can use with the suppressor? You said they are loud, which is true, but if you have them in a suppressor they don't add any noise but still mitigate recoil.

I run the Griffin taper mount system, my Griffin Bushwacker and SilencerCo Omega with proper adapter screw directly onto the taper mount compatible brakes.

Well I shot my 7 mag today, WOW! What a diffrence a suppressor makes to the recoil. I can truly say I love shooting my 7 mag again. I bought a break, but after using the suppressor, I just was thinking, hmmm... why bother? LOL I have the ultra 7 suppressor. I do not remember the manufacturer, sorry not a micro manager so the detils dont stay to long.

I am in the market for a new suppressor. It will be for a 7mm rem mag. It is a #6 contour 26” stainless Krieger barrel, not threaded on the end yet. It is primarily for the reduced felt recoil and the noise reduction is a bonus, but still a collateral benefit. I am not interested in a break, too loud. Anybody have any recommendations as to which brand has the most benefit in reducing felt recoil? I am in Texas so the legal stuff is ok. I will be shooting mostly at the range and some hunting if that window of opportunity ever comes to light.
SRT Arms in Arizona makes wonderful suppressors. Give them A+++++ for quality and customer service.

I put the muzzle break on my7 mag. My 30-06 recoils harder than my 7mag now and my 30-06 has one of them magnaport breaks too. I not sure if I want to use the suppressor now. I ordered another ultradyne for my 30-06. Kind of feeling like the suppressor was a waiste.
