Suppressor for Prairie Dog Rifle?

How many shots between suppressor cleanings?
I've shot as many as 300-400 rounds per day, then disassemble and drop all components in a Harbor Freight sonic cleaner and all have come out sparkling clean. However the expansion chamber sleeve was locked in and could not be removed. This hasn't posed a problem as the main tube with sleeve inside still cleaned up nicely in the sonic cleaner.

I have a friend who has just kept shooting 1000's of rounds year after year and his cans have locked up so that cones can not be removed. He shoots 20000+ rounds per year and has several cans so I have no clue how many each can has accumulated. He finally retired some of his cans this season. They had accumulated some serious carbon as evidenced by the total weight of the can.

I bought mine through Silencer Shop, there are others and they hear good things as well.
Mention of selling it, this came from those who know and not something lost in translation. It’s not like selling a car or set of dies, but it can be done and no big deal. You just have to plan for the future, which I know a lot of us don’t do.

If you are going to buy a can to use shooting prairie dog shooting get one that is full-auto rated. You will not believe the heat after only a few rounds. More than once I have had mine glowing red. The trick we have found is to wrap them in header tape, as in drag racing.

Been blastin pop-guts for nigh on 65 years. I don't need no steenking silencer.. IMO it adds nothing. Pdawgs are beyond stupid. Can't say I have ever seen em take a dive because of the noise.

Been shooting pdogs without any suppression for quite a few years. For sure dogtowns with high pressure seem to go vacant pretty quick. But, as compared to our teammates who been shooting suppressed for a couple years, they never seem to shoot any more than us without them. So, I don’t know that there will be much difference in the long run.

I haven’t shot PDs with a suppressor, so I cannot speak to that, but I do believe that rate of fire has an affect on sending them down for a while. I like to keep a nice slow and steady rate of fire and choose my shots rather than blast away at them as fast as possible.

I’m sure there are others who have the opposite experience.

Good answer!
