Sua Sponte...

seems to me that quite a few of us ride Harleys,,,maybe I should form the Creedmoor Biker Club,to go along with the secret side,,merge them together,,yea, thats the ticket,,:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Yea but they are all just UGLY next to the XR.

So are you going to get one now that you know theres thousands out there waiting for you? I was going to buy one a couple years ago but they dont have a title. I wanted to put it on the street

I have been to the H-D dealer 3 times in the last couple of months. They have a Trike Free Wheeler that calls my name every time I go there!!! My daughter says...DAD!!

Ride safe. This is me 6 weeks ago. Not a Harley but another "H". This is the last motorcycle Sochiro Honda actually supervised as Project Director. Hence intelligent design abounds.

Many impressive features, including 7.4 gallon tank UNDER the seat. Engine is a V-4, aligned like a car V-8. The only flaw was the design of the windscreen -- too short for tall Americans. Mine is a 2001 ABS. The only required repair since purchase 7 years ago has been a fork seal. Gets 43-46 mpg. Some STs have run over 200,000 miles. I ride this 3-4 days/week. It is 140 pounds lighter than the new Goldwing and has better luggage. Oh... and it cost me exactly $5000.00 bought used with 5000 miles. New GW touring is close to $30K with tax.

The link that Dusty posted said that the XR weighs 295 lbs. Not much more than my DT2MX Yamaha at 235 lbs. The thing is the HDs after the first year made close to 100hp, my poor old Yamaha made 32hp.

The guys i know that have xr’s say that they are rated 100hp at 7000rpm but they run them over 10k on the track. 185-200hp. I have a sporty with 155hp and it cant hold a candle to an xr

For the past couple of years, the Indian FTR750 has been kicking ass and taking names. This season alone, the FTR750 has a podium sweep 9 times. Mees has 10 wins out of 13 races and is 102 points ahead of the second place rider Henry Wiles. He too is riding the FTR750. Indian is back!

I helped a friend with a sportster drag bike back in the 70s. I still remember the huge box of camshafts that came with the bike. I hadn't thought about that till I read the link you posted about having 4 gear driven camshafts per set. There must have been 10 sets. It would surprise me if this drag bike ever turned over 7000rpm. It was kind rough but it still ran pretty good for back in the day.
