Celebrating my Anniversary today...

50 years ago, at about 2pm I raised my right hand and swore an oath to protect and defend the United States against all enemies, domestic and foreign. The United States Army and I joined forces that day.

I swore that oath, and they did not ask me to rescind it three and one half years later.

Sua Sponte,

Rich

25 Sept. 1981 for me. Like you said, my oath has no expiration date.

I make a special point to shake a veterans hand and thank them for their service, young or old it does not matter.
thank you for your service.
Sincerely
Jim

Good Job !! Rich and All who've Served - I did 15 on active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1977 through 1992.
I think that all should serve in some capacity or another whom are "fit & able" to.
- It instills discipline & values (or at least it did when I served) something that I think our nation could use desperately these days. - I had a forum member tell me that I was an "illiterate coonass" in a P.M. and I'm thinking to myself, How does this help do anything except re-enforce the divide that's prevalent in our country. - Fact of the matter is, I'm a transplant & not Cajun, but I hold no contempt for the Cajun's or the culture. - I choose to move where I'm at so I've embraced it and the people.

That's my soap-box for the day -

Again, Thank You All Who have, are & will serve. - Ron -

My best friend in Boot camp was a Cajun. That's where I first heard the term "Coonass". He, unfortunately was killed in RVN in 1967. USN Seabee welder.

butch,

that oath has no expiration date.

That said, October 26th of 2008 I was medically retired due to three Agent Orange surgeries. I'm up to five now.
But, thanks for asking...

Sua Sponte,

Rich
