Stretched my PD record out to 2200 yards with witness...

Before any other haters pile on you may want to change the date of the VHA article. I think they closed the doors in 2014 if I remember correctly.

Nice shooting Ron!!
Apparently time to edit posts is limited because I can't do it. Good eye, though, catching that typo. I have the magazine here and it is indeed the Fall 2014 issue, which I knew. That error was 100% typo.

I'm amazed that a PD would sit still for 7 seconds.

If your 2200 yard shot was at a groundhog, there is a high probability that the groundhog would not be there when the bullet got there. And, yes, groundhogs are a lot bigger than a PD.

Congrats on a great shot with tons of work leading up to it. My longest groundhog kill was 1062 yards (also witnessed) and I hooted and hollered about it. So, indeed, you have every right to do the same.

Prairie dogs are interesting critters. Some are a lot more skittish than others. When you get one in 'sentry' mode (watching for danger), it can sit perfectly still for a lot, lot longer than 7 seconds. If they are unconcerned about danger, they run here and there eating grass and don't stay put very long. Fire a shot and some will immediately dive down a hole while most will run up on the mound and stand upright looking to see what the heck just happened (I've scored doubles and triples shooting into a group that just ran up on the mound). If they don't see anything, most will go back down off the mound within ten seconds. I've seen sentries stay motionless for a minute or more.

As a paid member that lost. VHA closed down in 2016, overnight and without any warning to the members. The forum site, stayed up for a few more months, then it also went down, like puff.

The last issue they sent me was in 2014. I got a legal letter not long after giving me the opportunity to file claim for re-imbursement of funds owed.
