Congratulations to my secretive varmint hunter for todays feat

Two days ago he calls to tell me he had a chance at a mile or so for a hog and missed by a couple of feet with his .338 Edge, Today, he ruined my day since I had called the season for this year when he called with a hit with witness of a 2060 yards with a clean neck shot, This was the opp I looked for this past season without a chance. He has many such accomplishments but got tired years ago of putting up with all the doubting thomases that knew THEY could not do it, so it could not be done. Will start up with him June 1 or so next year. These shots ARE possible but it is not done by occasional shooters or by mediocre equipment. Those few in this particular discipline and those shooting extremes of 3 miles know well the barriers.

I must travel a considerable distance and hunt two or three states next season to get the number of opportunities needed to expect to duplicate or better this achievement.

Randy: having shot PDs for 20 years first thinking that a 300 yd hit was super then saw in VarmintHunter Mag that there was a 500 yd club, had to join up and try. New rifle! That wasn’t so hard but then it was 1000 yds wasn’t it? New rifle. Took awhile but got done. Did I see 1500 yds? New rifle. Pulled the 308 off my 40X and chambered a 26” Hart in 6.5X284. I could drive a139 Lapua 2980fps. Took three seasons of shooting 20-25 rounds each morning of our 5 day WY shoot for the dog and bullet to be in the same place at the same time. The practical accuracy at that range for me and that rifle over the Wyoming prairie was about 10-12 inches. Just keep putting them down there and wait!
I don’t even mention the range to non varmint hunters as I resent the comments or looks.
