Stolen rifle Rem 600, custom

UPS driver left the rifle being shipped back from Hart's leaning on the garage door with no one home, it was insured and he should have held it for a signature, the gun is gone.

If you see a Rem 600 with a 7-08 Rem fluted blue 24" bbl, in a hightech stock, check the last four of serial # 2068, the gun is stolen.

Thanks,

Bob

I hate you got your gun stolen by the laziness of a UPS person. The reason that he left it was because he did not want to come back. I had a UPS person leave a pistol that was shipped back to me after repair laying in front of a hardly every used basement door once. It had laid there for three days when I just happen to go around to that side of the house for something and saw it laying there. The next day I saw the driver in my area and stopped him and really reamed him out for doing that and then I called the main office and reported what he had done. I don't know if the guy lost his job or not but I never saw him in my area again.

Bob: Sorry to hear of your loss, now you'll have to go after UPS and file a claim. But I gotta ask: why is it necessary to post the same message on three different forums? ???

What you have gone through is my worst nightmare. My ups guys have left all kinds of things laying around including scopes and gun powder and other valuble stuff. Fortunatety I have been lucky. You have to report it to the police and go to every gun shop in the area to see if someone has tried to sell it to them.

Our UPS driver put a $5,000 SxS shotgun in a plastic bag and hung it on our electric driveway gate 600' from our house. Never knew it was there until my wife came home and said "look what I found".

He about S**T when I told him what was in the box. He's never done that again.

Bob: Keep us informed of the response you get from UPS, and their willingness to settle for your loss of the value of the rifle.

Yes i have come home and found my high grade engraved Krieghoff 4 barrel set setting on my under my balconey after being sent back from KI. Talk about a little nerve rattling. Sure glad I dont have neighbors or the general public riding by. Added ,

My insurance company has requested that i or the shipping party do not draw attention to the packages by either shipping to or from gun manfacture's name or imply that it is a firearm or arms in package. Generally ship to a certain person attention Braxton such and such not Krieghoff International . Now these are long guns i'm speaking of.

Our regular UPS driver (now retired) was extremely good about finding a safe place to leave packages he suspected were valuable. He knew where my sister works in town, where my parents live, etc. He also had my cell #, and had given me his. Never a problem while he was driving.

So imagine my surprise when I found a new BAT 3L action sitting on the front porch (which faces the county road) 3 or 4 days after a substitute driver had left it there - I very seldom use that door (obviously). Good thing actions come in small boxes and that my neighbors are way too honest to be a problem.

I sure hope you recover your custom M600.

It shouldn't have to be said, but anytime you are shipping/receiving a high value item, you need to make sure the consignor is using full value insurance and signature confirmation. Don't ask- DEMAND. Don't take it for granted that they will, ask questions. In this case I'm going to guess the insured value of the firearm was more than $1000. If that is the case, it triggers extra security measures within the UPS system and there is no way the driver should have left the package without a signature, providing the consignor did their part. You will want to check this out. I ship a lot of high-$$ product via UPS and have had pretty good luck. The one time there was a problem, I had all my ducks in a row, UPS admitted fault and cut a check very quickly. Best of luck recovering your item.

It was insured for $1500 and signature required, so i hope UPS responds fast,

my concern is the crook who stole it gets away, and an innocent gun buyer gets a bad rap.
