Record-Setting Rifle (and 2nd Gun) Stolen from R. Wagner. Please HELP.

Rodney,

I`m truly sorry to hear of this....

I had a Krieghoff stolen from me,same situation, from my vehivle nothing ever came of it not even the local police were interested in it.

Nothing was ever recovered... :(

I have reposted and will be keeping an ever vigilent eye open for anything having to do with your equipment.

Phil.

Rodney,,,it takes time to heal from this shocking event,,,Im thankful that you were not harmed during the robrey,,,the big thing I want to express to you is,,,you are what matters,,,all of the great shooting ,,events won,,and records set was done by YOU,,,the guns can be replaced, but, youcan not,,,,,,,,you are a "good egg".......Roger

I hope that they are not used in a crime here in Connecticut because they would be destroyed.Unless a few parts like scopes fell off on the way to the crusher. The same thing happens to guns retrieved in those "buyback" programs. It makes me cry to see a Python on its way to the melter.

Really hate to hear this, but am interested to to know if they were in the cab of a truck that could be seen or in a bed cover or trunk of a car? How would anyone know? You may be surprised who stole them. Prolly a lot closer than you would want to imagine.

There is a story about a STI handgun stolen and the guy who had it stolen from went and contacted every one with a FFL who was within a few towns. The store that finally got it in said they were never contacted by LE on it. It would pay to contact each FFL holder in the sounding area you never know.

If someone can find it and post a link it is worth the read.

First thing is to make sure that it is listed on NCIC.

Very good point Butch. And as others have said, get the local FFLs involved. As noted in the first post, this site is offering a $500.00 reward.

Rodney has agreed to add another $500 to the reward if the two rifles are recovered undamaged. This makes the total reward $1000.00. That's $500 from this site, and $500 from Rodney Wagner.

Following up on the NCIC thing. If a report was taken by local LE and serial numbers were provided, then it should be in NCIC already. Check back with the LE who took the report to make sure though. Weapons are input as a precaution/tool always, according to NCIC guidelines. This database is maintained by the FBI, so you can call them direct with the serial numbers and they should be able to tell you too.

I hate to be the one to say it but, I travel eight to ten times a year . Both to hunt and punch paper.I would never think of leaving my guns in my truck, at a Motel/hotel. I however hope Mr Wagner gets his guns back. Every day we get bad news. Good Luck Mr. Wagner !!

Sound advice; I had a handgun stolen in a B&E once and the gun was entered into NCIC using the incorrect serial number. Fortunately for me a fellow officer saw the gun on a citizen years later and recognized it as mine. He called me on the phone at home and asked if it had any distinguishable markings and I told him I had scrolled my initials in the butt. Viola! he recovered my stolen .357 Service Weapon. Follow up with LEO to make sure it is entered correctly. Mistakes happen.

Chances are the guys that took these guns have no clue what they have and have never heard of a 6 Dasher or March scope. Keep an eye on Craigslist and Ebay for the scopes. They don't get sold there much.
