Stolen rifle Rem 600, custom

UPS driver left the rifle being shipped back from Hart's leaning on the garage door with no one home, it was insured and he should have held it for a signature, the gun is gone.

If you see a Rem 600 with a 7-08 Rem fluted blue 24" bbl, in a hightech stock, check the last four of serial # 2068, the gun is stolen.

Thanks,

Bob

Sorry for your loss, but it might help if you included the town and state - should we be looking for it in California or Maine?

georgia and damn that sucks. How long ago was it stollen and is it southern georgia. I hang out at a bunch of used gun shops in Jax and will keep an eye out for it.

The gun was stolen in Marietta, ga - the driver left it May 5th, we did not know for a few days until checking with hHart to see where it was.

Sorry to hear that. You would think that with all the stealin going on he would have had better judgement and to leave it out like that, no excuse. I am outside of Cincinnati and will keep an eye out. I feel your pain. I sold a nice 6br barreled action about 2 months ago on a early Remington action that was done by Hart to a friend at work. I stuck the large amount of cash in my pocket and when i left the office out into the field i did not stop by the bank to deposit it. I thought i would wait till after work, well as you can guess it got lost. Lucky someone else and you can bet i will never make that mistake again. Hopefully it turns up and good luck.

This is the second instance in the last couple months hearing about UPS deliverypersons leaving guns without a signature. I had a 6BR custom delivered UPS to my FFL, left sitting up against the garage and visible from the street with no one home. This was in northern Delaware. I guess I was lucky. HP

Paul/Moderator/Forum Boss:

Would do the members a great service if he had a forum (searchable registry) for lost and stollen firearms.

Including Make, model, Serial number, caliber, description, accessories, Lawful Owners info, and LEO where reported stollen or lost.

If the police really wanted to find stolen guns they would post descriptions with numbers on the state police web pages then we could all look out for missing guns. Dealers could check instantly. A few years ago I had a Lesbaer .38 super stolen that was outfitted as a bianchi open gun. I sent emails to all the shooters in maine I knew then emails to all the gun-pawn shops that I knew about..... There probably wasn't another one like it in newengland. These guys found it in about a week getting it out of federal evedence took me another 2 years. + 1 on the stolen gun list it can't hurt.

I will keep my eye out in Central Florida. There are a lot of pawn shops around here and it wouldn't be too far fetched to find it down here. Could you post a pic to help us identify it? My friend has a theory about UPS delivering guns. He believes they do it on purpose to some degree. UPS delivered a rifle to my FFL that I purchased from Colorado and the box looked like he did not even stop the truck prior to "throwing" the box out. The barrel was actually protruding with a big gouge about 2" from the crown. Gunhaters? Just seems odd to me.
They know what it is in that "package".
Good luck.
I HOPE I DID NOT OFFEND ANYONE WITH THIS POST.

Bob get on the phone and start calling every gunshop or pawnshop, state police and the batfe as this is now a federal matter. It could take a long time, but if you put this jerk away for awhile there will be satsfaction in doing so regardless if you ever see the gun again.I wouldnt be surprised if it wasnt some punk kid in the neighborhood. I would put the word out in a big way.

Jon, not to dodge responsibility, i run a business starting at 6:30am until late afternoon, sometimes 5:00p, trying to get the time to call "every pawn shop, gun store, police etc" is something not possible, i will often put in an hour after dinner also on the books etc.

The theft has been reported to the local Sheriff and BATF, they have a newwork that i am letting work, unless someone volenteers to run my business.

I understand as I work weird hours myself.I am just excited to give thoughtful advice to someone who has been ripped off by some punk. I really hope you get it back.I am on your side as well I have been ripped off before and it hurts.

don't expect the police to look for your stuff very hard....they take a report but unless they confiscate your rifle from some one if they commit another crime I'm sure they are not going to spend much time looking for it. Emails to ranges, shooting buddys, gundealers, pawn shops are more effective. It also makes it hard when it turns up in someone's shop for them to say they didn't know it was stolen.

This just makes me sick! I know what I go thru just to git the money together to build a gun then to have it stolen im very sorry for your loss I hope they find your rifle and lock that punk a$$hole up for a long time.

I say when its found and the perp is convicted you get to use his attached testicles as a modified egg shoot! 180 grain VLD at 4,5 or 600 yards should challenging. "Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord". I'm just preparing in case he wants to subcontract! ;)
