Having been sick since last September I haven't been posting very much. But, the following occurred the last 3 days. Having a bite with my daughter and she asks if we should plan on going to CA. for Christmas. I piped up, "We could use our stimulus check". She starts checking American Airlines out of Richmond, VA. Here is what she found RIC. VA. to Oakland, CA.

I sold a spotting scope a couple of days ago here on the forum. The buyer lives about 5 hours from me. Went to UPS and told the clerk, "it's not very far, just get it there". Just get it there was almost $75.00!! I was totally dumbfounded. Went to the post office...It was 28.00 with insurance! Guess I haven't mailed anything in quite a while.

I booked a flight to Alaska yesterday for $480 round trip (from my local airport). Same ticket a year ago was $900.

Was the $76 price at a UPS Store? If so, they are NOT a part of UPS and charge whatever they wish.

If you wish to still ship UPS, set up an account and print your label. Then, drop at the UPS store, wait for the receipt that says they accepted (scanned) and off you go.

yeah you musta went to UPS store-- Post office is way cheaper than they are. I go to the UPS hub, but they will pick up from your house to and you pay reg UPS amount

UPS stores are expensive plus the ones in our area will not ship anything related to shooting including a scope. I have never had a problem at a hub or at a FedEx hub either. I have shipped rifle FedEx, no problems.

I salute your courage and believe you are correct about the march toward communism. I'm keeping my check and will use to pay on my property taxes and the additional cost of fuel for my truck. Really worried about my fixed income, future inflation, and higher taxes eating into my estate. Currently looking for remote land and a cabin, where I can hunt, grow food, set up a still, a maybe grow weed, and keep my family close, as it all comes tumbling down. Hope the new boss ain't like the old boss. Sorry for the doom and gloom. Guess the generation currently in power forgot about live and let live.

Move away from any big city , plant a garden and learn to can.... It's no longer if but when... We have two more years till we are both retired and in 2018 I thought we were going to be fine... In 2019 I realized we were not going to be... I never thought I would move again but I guess further away is in our future also.... My neighbor Hood used to be decent in the last year it's seen the trash move in.... I think my neighbor across the street must be opening a junk yard in his front yard... I would tell him something but he doesn't even speak English... One of my friends here has now sold out because of the exact same thing... America is gone so plan for the worst... It's coming , you can bet that $1400 on that....

Don't worry, the pace is picking up. Spend the money on mementos for your great-grandkids, so they'll have something to remember you by when they are in work camps and reading the works of Marx, Mao, and Pol Pot instead of Dr. Seuss.

Use Google Flights to find options. Choose airports on each end, and search. You'll probably need to search Southwest Airlines separately, because they are often excluded from fare results using this method.

I'll have a look at flights for you if you like. What dates are you thinking? From experience, if you actually fly on Christmas Day, such flights are less expensive and hardly any passengers. If you need a place to stay near Oakland, look up my mom and dad! My dad's birthday is Christmas Eve.

My check left this morning. Left my tailgate down on the truck, loading it up. Forgot it was down, backed into a tree. Did you know a new tailgate, painted and installed is $2200 bones. Crap!!!!
