Sticking Bolt Rem 260.

No new brass to check against but not sure that would make any difference.
The shoulder bulging slightly was a train of thought but I don't know how I would measure this. It did not show up on the sharpie test.

Select a hornady hs gage bushing slightly larger than the case neck od. Then use it like normal. This will help if the issue is at the neck shoulder junction

Might I suggest you consider trying some Peterson brass. And I'm not seeing you turning the brass necks so that they are all uniform so that the release of the bullet is identical. Worked great in my Ruger action which is believe is not as good as the Rem 700. Not sure what your barrel likes in terms of the bullet so you'd have to test AFTER you've turned the necks. Just some thoughts for you to consider. I actually sold my .260 because it no longer presented a challenge as my 5 shots groups at 100 yds were consistently under the size of a nickel and closer to dime size.

Can you see scuffing from the bolt face on the case head?
I would sharpies the entire case and bullet including the case head.
It has to be touching somewhere.

Cheers.

Thanks once again for replies.
All cases trimmed with Lee cutter to 2.0150" a bit short in my opinion but that,s the Lee Trimmer for you.
No access to a lathe :(
FC neck OD .292" even trimmed down to .290" with bullet
PPU neck OD .294 with bullet
Will check shoulder angle when I see him next.
Will try sharpie again but first time didn,t show anything obvious.
Didn't check chamber as there was no problem with the PPU and he assured me it was clean. Will revisit this.
I am determined to find out what is happening although mate is going over to the PPU's.
Trimming to an OAL is just asking for the problem you are experiencing, IMO. Get a Wilson (or other) case gauge and trim to that. Get the shoulder set-back right and the neck length right and you cannot have resistance to closing unless the bullet is touching the lands.

In theory you could from necks that are too thick but I have never seen that. I turn all my necks, but not to keep them from being squeezed by the chamber. Anyway, you said you turned the necks.

It just about has to be that the necks are too long. You will never know it loading the empty cases -- you have to load the cartridge to get the resistance. That is because the empty case mouth, being very thin, will flex around the end of the chamber, but it cannot do that when there is a bullet in the mouth.

I took several measurements and found that the new cases where larger OD neck size. Headspace slightly smaller. Trimmed neck down so that OD was smaller than Master Round. Still same problem. this round was now smaller than master in every way.

It was smaller in every way except the distance from shoulder to mouth was longer than the master round, I will bet. You will spot that in flash with a Wilson case guage. Cheap and essential.

You don't even need to blacken your problem case to see where the problem is -- if you look very close you will see that the edge of the mouth is polished from being pressed against the end of the chamber when the bolt is closed.

I think chubbs has tried everything Lister from neck turning with a smaller OD on the problem case to using a sharpie . He's not new to reloding , knows all the areas to look for problems . Could it be something as odd as the case body not being straight to the case base.
