Spotting scope stands?

Otis (the OP) was looking for a scope stand to use from prone. I mentioned the Edelkrone, that I use from prone. Here are some images of that stand with my Kowa 883.

The folded Edelkrone and the Manfrotto head are in front, the Kowa is in the back.

Now the Edelkrone is unfolded, ready to receive the Kowa.

And now we load the Kowa on the Edelkrone. Makes for a nice compact package and I can pan horizontally to see the entire target line.

Makes it nice and close to me in position.

Really liked this setup, seems much less weight than a Ray Vin tripod and head I have been using. A good thing to travel by plane.

Which specifically Manfroto head do you use, or recomend?

LRCampos.

I use the Giraud stand. I prefer the legs folding up straight up vs all pointing down then rotating up. Also, since the lock there are no loose washers to worry about that dangling leg.
Giraud as well. Just don't use a camera tripod.

I really like this setup, Denys. Can you tell me whether you have found it necessary to tighten all the screws in legs every time you use the base to maintain proper tension, or do they stay good for a while? I don't need another spotting scope stand, but this setup is about as minimally intrusive into the shooter's position as I have ever seen. Very nice!

The leg tension is fine out of the box. I can refine the angles on each leg once in position.

The Manfrotto head is an MHXPRO- BHQ2. I got the Edelkrone at BH photovideo and the head at Amazon. Do read my review of the head on Amazon; the fake plates that come with it are NOT Manfrotto, they are crap. You might check at BH photovideo and see if they sell the head with genuine Manfrotto plates.

This isn't mine. However the tripod has a weight hanger on it. I hang a 15 lb kettle ball off mine. Keeping the kettle ball right next to the ground. 055 Pro and then you will need a gearhead of some sort.$700 ish. The tripod will go 6ft tall as well.

Did you use a thread adapter? The manfrotto has 3/8 threads according to the specs. and the edelkrone has 1/4 threads.
