spotting scope recommendations

My current spotting scope, a Nikon Field Scope 20x-60x has short eye relief making it difficult to use from my prone shooting position. (F/O). Any suggestions for an easy to use spotting scope for checking wind and mirage for shooting mid-range and long range F/O.

Bullets.com Kowa 82SV (BL4313) scope 17HD LER (BL4308) eye piece $899.95 shipped UPS man just left.

Bobr1's suggestion is a good one. Kowa with LER eyepiece will be the best for eye relief. If you have more $ to spend, look at the 773 and 883. If you get a chance to look through an 883, you will never be satisfied with anything else.

He ain't kidding, that thing is awesome. I scored with one at my last match and I have wanted one ever since. I heard bullets.com has it on sale or did.

Keep an eye on Eagle Optics' web page as they occasionally have demo models of the Kowa's at ridiculous prices. Their prices are already lower than anyone on the web, and the demo prices are a LOT lower. Free next day fedex shipping also.

Thanks guys, I'll sell my Nikon and buy a Kowa. The Nikon that I have is very popular with bird watchers so I won't have any trouble selling it. It works great prairie dogging or group shooting also.

20 years ago I bought a Kowa TSN-1 w/25 PWR long eye relief (LER) eyepiece. It hurt the pocket book but I've never looked back. Its no longer mad but if I had to do it today, I would buy the equivalent with a LER eyepiece.

I have the same scope and it's def adequate. Waterproofing could be better though..

This one went for a steal two days ago- approx $550US
