Southern Cold snap living in a camper

I live on the west side of Signal Mnt from Dunlap,not too far from 111 and it will get rather cold a few times every winter around these parts. If your camper is a newer model and has red/blue water lines, those are PEX lines and are designed to swell up and not split in single digit cold weather. Run a fast drip at night and you should be fine.

I assume you shoot at Dead Zero or if not, your own property?

Well, in Mississippi, this afternoon I got the tractors all juiced up on straight Prestone, old truck too, tomorrow I'll drag a heat lamp under the house and close all the vents under the crawl space. Its gonna be one of those damp cold kinda weekends. The kind that gets to the bone. Making preps to survive it, as long as theres no ICE and the power stays on we'll be ok hopefully. I have to have all this done by Wed. cause the wind is supposed to be out of the south thursday and thats the best wind for hunting behind the house!

Looks like we are flirting with 0 to a negative number now , I have the camper skirted and heat lamps under it but is that enough..... I do have a buddy heater standing by as well. Maybe the safe bet is to winterize for a couple days and store some water for flushes.

Me too. Heat tape and pipe insulation. R board around the bottom and fit to the windows. -30 tonight, so far so good. Far better than generations before had.

I'm shutting down the valve from main meter. Then opening water spigots to drain water. I'm fully stocked on water reserve.

So far so good. One pipe is froze up, no hot water in the kitchen. Other than that, no problems.

We are getting hammered. Wind already took trees down and knocked power out. Started as rain then it froze. Now it’s snowing and everything is freezing , I am seeing a small sample of what yall in the real cold states go through. We just aren’t accustomed to or prepared for a real winter here in the south. Heck my dog doesn’t wanna go out ......... when the house is done it will have a wood burning stove and a backup generator for sure!

I think it’s cold everywhere! It was -2 at 4 am when I was winterizing the camper this morning, heat tape doesn’t work without power.
