Sorting Bullets

JFTHOI
This is how I sort for each loading session.
BBTO within.001 placed in the ready box" anything beyond goes back in the original box so the 50 rounds I'm loading are as close as possible.
Repeat until the box has only culls left over usually 5-7 rounds
All except able Bullets are seated to same seating CBTO depth despite a difference in BTO

I no longer weigh Bullets.

As I learn more and purchase different tools i perhaps will sort differently but for now that's it..

I don't agree with your alteration. If you buy 500 bullets, sort them fifty ways from Sunday using every possible aspect that can be sorted, and end up with 500 sort groups, then you're basically back to what you originally had in the box before you opened it: 500 individual bullets. I certainly advocate sorting bullets as a means to improve consistency, but my point was that when taken to an extreme, sorting approaches can also sometimes be counterproductive. JMHO.

If you're ending up with 500 single bullet piles, you aren't starting with enough bullets ;)

Sorry, I accidentally dropped a zero...I meant 5000 single bullet piles ;). Good catch. I tend to refer to removing the very small number of unacceptable bullets that might wreck your score from the much bigger pile that are acceptable as "culling". In my mind, that's a very different process than "sorting".

How many sort Bullets to the degree JET does ?
I used to until I started using better bullets. Now I trim to a common OAL, then sort by weight. next I'll check B2O and sort if necessary, but rarely do I find 2-3 bullets out of 100 that are culls. With that said, those few culls have the opportunity to ruin a clean string in an important match. Besides, I sleep better knowing I did this. ;)
I hope this helps,

Lloyd
