how does the Wylde chamber compare to say the PPG match chamber? Is it good for long and short bullets?

Longer FB and neck and yes it will shoot 50 gr to 80+gr bullets, mostly used in the AR15. Great chamber delveloped by Bill Wylde. this should help ----- http://ar15barrels.com/data/223-556.pdf

HOLLIGER ON .223/5.56 CHAMBERS

I have a Savage .223 and an AR15 A2 HBAR, the .223 chamber has a longer throat than my 5.56 chamber. The thumb rule today is the chamber and throat of a .223 must be long enough for a firearms Lawyer to fit inside the chamber and thus not cause any law suits.

The reason the 5.56 has a longer throat is to slow down the peak pressure and reduce bolt thrust on rifles used under combat conditions. (wet or oily chambers water in the bore etc.)

The Wylde chamber is a compromise so deciding what type shooting you will be doing and the degree of accuracy you want is the main factor in your chamber decision, along with deciding on the chrome chamber and bore.

??? :-\ ;)

Your speed reading ability needs work, click on the link that areaone provided in post number two and click on the link and READ freebore length on the chart.

So if i was wanting to order a criterion prechambered barrel for a Savage PTA to shoot 69 SMK, 75Amax, 75 HPBT which chamber should i get a Wylde of the standard 223rem? I will be using Lapua brass.

I've got both 223 Wylde & 223 Match reamers from PT&G; for a bolt gun, I'd go with the match reamer, as the Wylde has more generous dimensions built-in for use in gasguns. My match reamer has .068" freebore, while the Wylde has .0619". All the 223 bbls I've done for my own use are 1:7.7tw or faster for use with 75-90gr bullets, and the match reamer's freebore works well with the heavier bullets.

I also used the match reamer on a 30" Palma bbl that's only going to be shot with 90s - took the freebore out another .080" with a throater so the 90s could be seated with the body/boattail junction right at the case's neck/shoulder junction.

I was going to order a Savage pre fit from Jim and they only show a standard 223rem or the Wylde. Im looking to shoot the 68-75grain bullets with Lapua brass.
