223 WYLDE CHAMBER LENGTH

Just measured my new IBI 223 Rem barrel with a Wylde chamber using Sinclair's chamber measuring tool and got a reading of 1.791. Does that sound right?

That's a tad long but not out of line with other chambers I've measured. The good thing is you can let your cases grow before having to tri plus doing that you do gain a very slight case capacity.

BTW, the Sinclair instructions states to maintain no closer than .024 to the chambers end. Any reason for that particular clearance number?

The SAAMI spec for a 223 is 1.772"+.015".
not disagreeing, just the words
chamber case length is 1.772, drawing length tolerance is +.015

saami case length is 1.760 -0.030
worst case as built there is .012 clearance from case neck to chamber neck end and possible to be up to .042.

trim your brass either to spec or measure your chamber and trim for some clearance

I just got the Sinclair chamber gauge.
In Wylde chambers from two different suppliers, the lengths measured 1.792 and 1.795.

Using bolt tail bullets, is there any issue with not chamferring after resizing? [Accuracy objective in the 1/2 - 3/4 MOA range].

Do not think there is a throating length specified. I have a Wylde chambered AR with a short throat. Sure tricked me as I expected to be able to pass magazine length OAL for target ammo shot single shot.

Got a rude awakening on that issue.
