I know I saw this topic a while back but just skimmed over it. Today I spent 35 Min. following the instructions I was given and keep getting the same request, list user name and pass word, over & over & over again.
Finally said What a waist of time, one would think they were keeping the location of Jimmy Hoffa on this site.
Opinions from knowledgeable sources is one thing.

Try putting in your user name and forgot my password. When they ask you for a new password just put in the old one.

I'm sure the way the site makes $$ is selling advertising space based on the # of people that view the site. I know if it were my income that depended on the # of members viewing the site I would make it very easy to join & visit.

I believe everyone had to reset the password on the new site via the reset password method (was posted on old site in one of the subforums). For folks like me with a short username or others with a taken username - we had to reset our accounts using our email instead of the username and pick a new username.

As for historical posts, you can do one of two things - if you see something on google, cut and paste the link and change .com to .info, or you can search google's results of the new site directly via 'site:forum.snipershide.info searchstring' instead of your standard 'searchstring'.

This is a major issue.
The value of the site is in its cached history and knowledge base.
With the exodus of seasoned/experienced members AND a complete lack of Google relevance it's going to do damage to the reputation of the site.
I'm continuing to post and hope that some of low post count/high quality members remain.

The Google search problem is supposedly being addressed. Personally, I do not like the new site. Went to sniper central. Much less traffic, but much cleaner.
This has always been my go to site though.

The new HIDE has left a lot of folks behind, not everybody was raised up in the computer generation. I for one just do not have the time or background to keep up. Not complaining, just doing the best I can with what I have. I still like to go there for info.

That new site cant be taken seriously. Greed has overtaken it to the point advertisements are the forefront.

I can't say the ads are on my top list of grievances for the free site.
If anything I think that there are less ads.
I think the interface is really the unkindest cut.

There's just too many other great websites out there to have to put up with this transition crap. Between losing my screen name and all my old posts, as well as not being able to search the old posts easily, it's just not worth it for me.

After experiencing much of the same time and frustration trying to log-in as you have described, I contactd the management. This reply from Frank Galli helped instruct me how to log back in. Following the instructions will automatically link you back with your original user name. ALSO; Once you are logged in and back into the forums again, you have the option of choosing the new "Beta" layout, or the standard and more original style. Place your cursor over the word "forums" (located under the large Sniper's Hide title) The choice of "Beta Forums" , and a darkened-out "Forums" just to the right of that will appear. If you click on the darkened word "Forums" the old style format will reappear.

And yes, this whole thing they did was quite a botch-up! I don't know what they were thinking.



"Two completely different sites now,

You have to relink your account by:

1. Using your email address from the account request a new password

2. Log in with your email address and new password

3. Go to the forums and relink the account you may have to modify the user name slightly, so if it you get a message to do so, you have to.

Then moving forward you can use your User Name

For what it's worth I tried to sign up the other day. It would not accept any user name I came up with, telling me that one was already in use!
It became so ridiculous I made up some really stupid long name, still the same, that user name already in use.

So I just quit ! The next day I had and email from them thanking me for signing up !. It included my password but no user name. So much for security, now Google and the world knows my password.
I think I'll stay away till they get straightened out, if ever.
