Smallest 5 shot 1000 yard group yet

Joe, I wont be shooting. I am taking a break for a couple years. But I'll be at every match to help out. I am not counting my chickens, but the guys I shoot with. I know how good they are, ;D

The guys and the Lady's I shoot with are pretty damn good themselfs, But shooting five shoot should be a chip shot out there!

I think you may have the IBS. boys worried already. I've Had some pretty nice practice groups myself, It would have been more impressive if it were in the 10 ring.Or the X. The wind couldn't have been blowing out there! Was IT?

joe, in ibs its always a plus to get a hi score to, but never less this GROUP IS FREAKING AWESOME!!
ive been competing since 1000 yd for 8 yrs and shot range nbrsa since 1989 and at 1000 yards this is about as good as it gets.
i routinly shoot sub 5 in with a 6.5 creedmoor light gun and may best is 3.1 which was good enought to win . i know mr isaacson very well, and shoot with him quiet a bit, cant remember the exact group size but it to was world class. i d be tickled with this group in a shoot off come feb at cool acres match. i still give him a BIG SHOUT OUT, he earned it in my book cause i know how hard it is to get the perfect conditions tomake it all come togather.

This may be the smallest? This was shot by one of our friends with his 11lb dasher. He will be shooting with us this season at Deep Creek. :) 1.160" outside to outside .917" ctc.

Any witnesses? Just askin'.....

I'll take the stand on that without a doubt. I have known Tim and his shooting addiction for over 30 years. We live in the same town, population 1500 maybe, and do a lot of shooting and reloading together. Car pool together to Deep Creek to matches and help each other out with gun stuff on a weekly bases. I wasn't with him when he shot that group that day, as we both have our own shooting ranges, he told me about it the next time we spoke, and I KNOW its real. He was ecstatic about it. He invested a lot of time, money and hard work into getting bullet dies made, then bullets made, and about 3 years of shooting and tuning, getting them to shoot. That group may have been a fluke, we'll see, but he did do it!

Tim,,,excellent group....and with a 11pound gun !!!!!!!!!.....haha,,,,what action/scope and bbl length/contour,,,,its tuff to get the weight that low,,,my light gun weighs 12-3/4 lbs,,,and I would like to build a 11 pounder,,,Congratulations again,,,Roger

His gun is a older Panda that he used for hunter BR competition on a McMillan stock with a 4 inch wide aluminum piece on the fore end for stability in the bag. 8 twist Hart barrel, 27 inches? not sure on contour, but close to a Rem Varmint contour, little lighter. 36 power Leupold BR

Lonnie,,,thank YOU,,,,I was thinking about the Leu 36x with a 1" tube and a Palma contour ,,,he did it another way,,,,good idea,,,,it is tuff to get that light,,,,Roger

Not only do I enjoy seeing the group but enjoy reading all the commentary.

Alex, Thanks for starting this.

I heard of talk of smaller a couple years back, but never got to see a picture. Of course that was not an 11 pound sporter.

Nice group Tim. Shooting with Tim, I know it was not a fluke and likely will be repeated.

I witnessed Bill Brown's 5 shot group at 1000 yds that all fit inside a quarter a few years ago while practicing one day at Deep Creek. He just wanted to see how my gun was riding the bags talking to me while sending them. It was late after 11:00 in the morning. He did it on a fresh target with my Bat Dasher with a great barrel, shooting hybrids at 37 off using 32.38 grains of 4895 and 400 primers. They were sorted and loaded very well. The barrel was 90+ rounds dirty. Several other shooters were there including the late Jack Peterson. I could never get that magic to happen again with that gun and returned to the Spencers which did ok with many 4s that season. It was a Bill Brown thing... I thought he pulled it for a pocket target. He did not...
There are many Deep Creek shooters capable of this up and down the line, actually most all of them. When the conditions are right, look out IBS. Deep Creek may well be the greatest place in the world to shoot 1000 yards and the guys are all great to shoot with. IBS will make it even better.
