Slowest lot of Varget I Ever Had

I would guess that anyone who has bought military surplus powder has shot powder from different lots that was mixed together. I remember calling a powder manufacturer and asking questions about some surplus powder being sold that was "supposedly" originally manufactured by their company. I was advised of the sins and hellfire of using any such powder - and that any business selling such powder was very unscrupulous - or something to that effect. I sure wish I could find more of that powder. I'm down to my last two jugs.

Mixing powder is one of the top ten DO NOT'S in reloading!!!

Yeah.. I guess I will never win another F-Open match or shoot another 4-5 inch group at 1000 yards because I violate one of those top ten rules in reloading.. Oh well, I guess it is what it is..

You are missing the point. Open forum. New reloader is going to read this thread......and see the great F Open Match winner bragging about mixing powder.

1.) I was not "bragging" about mixing powders. Just merely stating I did. 2.) You jumped in with a comment, as stated, that does not make sense. 3.) After everyone else chimed in that they do the same thing, YOU get your feathers ruffled! 4.) That shows a lack of character as well as a lack of information. AND you are mad at me! You are correct, at times, painfully, this is an open forum!

NEW TO RELOADING??? DONT MIX POWDERS. DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT,!!! That should cover it.

Just a question for those mixing a large quantity of powder in plastic containers.

Have you noticed any grains of powder dancing around (static electricity) while doing so?

I have mixed in small quaniities but never anything like the 48#

I think the big NO goes to ,say, mixing some 4198 with 4895 to " speed it up a little" or mixing some 30 year old can of 4064 I found at the back of a drawer with a new can to freshen it up. Mixing 48 lbs. of Varget? Wow. Hope the No Smoking sign was lit!😳

Are you planning a trip to the Moon???

Varget is such a PIA you almost have to mix it. I did and I do.

Right now it's IMR 4166 for me. Not positive it works as well and don't know it's behavior well.
