sizing die label

The key is not letting F. Guffey get into your 'headspace'.
No... he's not in my headspace either..... but do think he should run for President !.!.!
Just think of the news and TV time coverage he'd get to proclaim his conceptions.

Reloading Manual Introduction:

This reloading manual does not have an index. Some reloading manuals have an index but mine do not. Some reloaders like to use page numbers or titles at the top of the important sections, but only I understand why this book has no index, unlike all other reloaders. You'll notice that the letters are big on the left and small on the right. I have formed those small letters from the bigger ones using a proprietary process known only to me, but it involved a form and trim writing system and hand file. To reload like me you must learn this process. The use of a feeler gauge is necessary to turn the pages of this manual. Other reloaders use their tools but only my method works to turn the pages of this manual, despite what other reloaders on this website say.

17 Mach IV: The 17 Mach IV is a wildcat created by necking down a 221 fireball cartridge. I prefer to form and trim from once fired 30-06 cases. This cartridge does not have head-space.

Lock rings with degree marks would sure come in handy. It shouldn't be that hard for a manufacturer to produce.

I will tell what a reloader can not do: A reloader can make all kinds of adjustment with all kinds of gadgets but the one thing they can do is verify the adjustment. If they could verify the adjustment they could go straight to verifying without the gadget. And somehow that is my fault?

I'm 100% with you guff. All reloaders must verify no matter what method is being used, otherwise, they could have excessive head space.

@rardoin
Your forgetting: "he is the only one"
Which pretty much sums it up. He does things his way, which in his twisted mind is always the right way and smartest way. All others say and do; the wrong way and/or dumb ways.

It's obvious @fguffey communicates "reloaders" as everyone but himself. So by his conceptions, if one reloader does or says something, it stands that all reloaders in general, do as well.

One thing he never provides, is how all his methods and ways of doing things, stack up in terms of accuracy capability. He is a firm believer and advocate of: forming larger cases to fit smaller chambers. Which by itself has been widely proven to hinder accuracy potential compared to expansion forming of smaller cases and/or cartridge specific new brass. His methods are products of +50-year old technology, far more then by current or modern technology, and are not advancement.

But maybe I'm the only one here...

These are Quotes from Guffey.

1 All my presses are BUMP PRESSES
2 You cannot BUMP SHOULDERS with a full supporting die.

My question is why do his presses bump if he can't bump shoulders?
What the H@ll do they bump then?

Matt

Matt -
Here's why @fguffey shoulders do not move or bump:

My Shoulders Don't Move
(a sole alliance of fguffey)

His own alliance and conception is why....lol

"now that is something that could drive most reloaders to the curb because it involves understanding 'zero'."

F. Guffey

Yet your comment above is a bit contraditory to your well established supposition based upon many, if not all, of your posts that all reloaders understand ZERO;). Of course you exclude yourself from that comment. I'm still not sure if you are a troll or a $hi+ stirrer. I would never put you on ignore as the entertainment value is simply priceless. Keep up the good work.
geez now i dont have to guess at wat i know, the Guff has spelled it out for me.

I believe the micro adjuster is for all your dies, not just, one. Matt
oh i didnt know that-- so it must go in the press and dies are screwed in and out of it-or mabie just fastens to the top. ill check it out thanks

they could have excessive head space.

No, if the reloader is sizing a case they should understand they are going for clearance. Sizing a case does not change head space, reloaders believe the case has head space; it is impossible to get the reloader to read. If they did they would find SAAMI does not list head space for the case in their drawings. We had a member call SAAMI and tell them they were wrong, he has a bully type of an attitude and when he says the case has head space he believes the case has head space. Anyhow, I was the only one that disagreed with him and SAAMI told him the case does not have head space. He called them, I didn't.

We all know SAAMI has to be nice to everyone, I would not put them in a situation where they had to agree with a shooter that tells them how good he is, SAAMI does not use the symbol for head space on their case drawings. They do use the symbol for head space on chambers.

I believe shooter take themselves too seriously when they start telling me I am wrong; everyone of them tell me they can move the shoulder back and I ask how? Me? I am up front, I say I find it impossible to move the shoulder back with a die that has full body support; I find it impossible to get reloaders and shooters to think about it, I will never figure why they feel so threatened.

F. Guffey

@fguffey i believe deep down youre a great guy that means well. I know people come off different in type than in person. I know that you know what youre doing and i know you have good ideas on how to do things. Im trying to be a positive person these days. Id sure love to see some of these tools you have to do things. You tell us you can do things we just dont understand but i cant figure out after all these years why you havent showed us any of this stuff. Wouldnt it suck to leave this world and not pass off any of the years of knowledge you have?

F to the G, Guff, Ma main Man, The clearance you allude to is what every single one of use refers to as head space (Clearance = Head Space). In fact, I just called SAAMI to ask about "clearance" and where that can be found on the specification and they said that they don't specify it, but I was like, my main man Guffey was talking about it and how he "creates" it, and then they hung up on me.

I have used Skips die shims for years. I have had two shims that showed rusting in all those years. One I lost and later found while loading at the range. The other I let my son install it in his press set-up- he a danger to uncoated steel parts- it rusts overnight if he touches it. Now I give him plastic shims and coated dies for his stn.stl. gun.
