sizing die label

@fguffey i believe deep down youre a great guy that means well. I know people come off different in type than in person. I know that you know what youre doing and i know you have good ideas on how to do things. Im trying to be a positive person these days. Id sure love to see some of these tools you have to do things. You tell us you can do things we just dont understand but i cant figure out after all these years why you havent showed us any of this stuff. Wouldnt it suck to leave this world and not pass off any of the years of knowledge you have?
yeah we need some Guffey videos. seeing is believing

F to the G, Guff, Ma main Man, The clearance you allude to is what every single one of use refers to as head space (Clearance = Head Space). In fact, I just called SAAMI to ask about "clearance" and where that can be found on the specification and they said that they don't specify it, but I was like, my main man Guffey was talking about it and how he "creates" it, and then they hung up on me.
lol—they must have had a run in or two wit da main man

No, if the reloader is sizing a case they should understand they are going for clearance. Sizing a case does not change head space, reloaders believe the case has head space; it is impossible to get the reloader to read. If they did they would find SAAMI does not list head space for the case in their drawings. We had a member call SAAMI and tell them they were wrong, he has a bully type of an attitude and when he says the case has head space he believes the case has head space. Anyhow, I was the only one that disagreed with him and SAAMI told him the case does not have head space. He called them, I didn't.

We all know SAAMI has to be nice to everyone, I would not put them in a situation where they had to agree with a shooter that tells them how good he is, SAAMI does not use the symbol for head space on their case drawings. They do use the symbol for head space on chambers.

I believe shooter take themselves too seriously when they start telling me I am wrong; everyone of them tell me they can move the shoulder back and I ask how? Me? I am up front, I say I find it impossible to move the shoulder back with a die that has full body support; I find it impossible to get reloaders and shooters to think about it, I will never figure why they feel so threatened.

ya better come down off your high horse Guff- Nobody feels threatened by you—

.001 is plenty fine enough. I only have one and havent used it much but it sure works nice. Just loosen the nut off the press, give it a click and tighten it back down. Its @fguffey approved since you dont secure the ring to the die
im sure 001 is good enough for me—. ill check into it thanks

Couldn't you put it on the top of the lock ring?
That would defeat the "floating" feature of the Coax. I can get my case to float (as opposed to the die) with conventional presses by using o-rings.....and still allow using shims or micro-adjusters ----all at half the cost of the Coax.------and most of my presses are portable enough to use at the range.

You can not move the shoulder back, you have spent most of your reloading life talking about moving the shoulder back only to discover it can not be done, Same thing happened to the member that called SAAMI, he was a good shot and then went off talking in lofty terms and making stuff up. He started claiming the case had head space, it was case head space and case head space gage and then he was told SAAMI did not list case head space in their case drawings. Rather than to say something like; "I want a do over" or "I never noticed that before" etc.

And then reloaders got all giggly about the digital head space gage. I said the gage was a comparator, I said I thought it was a rather cheap comparator, if a reloader had a little knowledge of gages and micrometers they would know the major manufacturers called the stand a dial indicator stand and or a comparator.

And reloaders still do not know what happens to the shoulder when the case is sized and or fired. And when I ask they act like they are being provoked, they lose it, they get angry.

MR.Guff;get a publisher, write a book with drawings and explaintions put it on the market, you might make the reloader best seller list, who knows.

OK..... you keep saying "You can not move the shoulder back"

These are 308Win cases I've modified by "moving the shoulder back" in my parlance.

What do YOU call this modification?

redding 2018 product catalog,page 18,left side;tech talk;create the perfect shoulder bump;;if it can't be done why do they talk about it,I'm just a dumb redneck,I don't know

And when I ask they act like they are being provoked, they lose it, they get angry.

Then why not try, for the heck of it, a new approach. Answer just ONE question directly? Why spin off into killer firing pins and alleged shoulder bumps?
Just ONE time give it a whirl. One question one direct answer. Forget how many lathes you have under each arm.

After reading 4 pages of posts on this subject, I am REALLY happy with my Competition Shell Holder Set.

The Guff Alliance. It has a better ring to it than the Palma Alliance. Can't wait to see the T-shirts you design.
