Silly Q from someone new to 6mm

Greetings All,

I'm gathering up the things I need for reloading as I wait for the parts I need to build my 1st 6mmbr. A silly one is a proper ammo box for loaded rounds. I was thinking of a MTM or Midway or whatever. What holds 50 loaded rounds, point up, w/o too much rattling around.

I'm also intersted in hearing about some of the things any experienced users have added to their inventory that was especially useful or needed that relates specifically to the 6mm. Thanks, Hank

Need to know what 6mm chambering you are thinking of...

A 6PPC is very short, a 6mm-06 or 6-284 is pretty long.

J&J Industries makes a nice 50 round case, that only costs $2.36, www.jandjproducts.com, item SR 50.

That said, most of the guys I know bring the MTM 100 cases to matches. These hold 100 rounds in a plastic pegboard-style matrix, They'll rattle a bit when the rounds are stored nose up, but if you store them tip down, little plastic fingers hold the rounds pretty securely.

Many guys will actually pack just 50 in a 100 round box, leaving empty rows to separate different loads, or to make it easier to grab the rounds quickly.

Hi Hank,
Welcome to wonderful world of the 6mm. I am also a new 6mm shooter. I will give you a run down on what I use.At the moment I use a MTM R-50. This is for my 6BR. I use a RCBS Rock chucker press and Redding Comp dies with a neck bush. A K&M neck turner to turn necks to .268 for a .269 chamber. A good set of vernier callipers and a micometer will help if you decide to turn your necks and measure OAL of youe rounds. The hornady Bullet comparator helps to keep all the projectiles batched for bering surface, which helps the ES and the groups for my rifle anyway. a good set of scales to measure your powder any brand will do as long as it is repeatable. A primer pocket cleaner is a must I think, nothing gets up my nose more then primers seated all over the place it dosent help concistant ignition either. I use a lee hand primer but any hand seater will do. A concentricity gague is handy to measure the runout on projectiles I am getting an RCBS case master gauge through the mail at the moment.
There are more little tools I have got over the last few years to help with making good reloads but I forgot half of them or cant find them at the moment.

Read the article by Jacob Gottfredson it realy helped me.
