Silly mistake, can it be rectified?

I'm sure we've all done it at some point in our lives, I've crushed the neck of a case in a FL die. Reloading 6PPC for the first time in a while and didn't set the die correctly. As a consequence, the neck has been forced very far into the shoulder. Should I abandon the brass or fire it with a mild load or even a fire forming load?

Trash it and move on. It will never be the same as other pieces of brass that sized normally. Tape it to the press as a reminder to be more careful setting up the die next time......that way the case wasn't really wasted and you'll feel much better.
I got fubar cases on display all over the reloading room....my favorite is a 6 ppc case fired in a 30 BR:oops:. Learn from your mistakes.

DLH, I have a 3 lb coffee can used for culling brass. It hurts to toss them, hurts more to try and salvage crap brass.

My OCD will be killing me but it's probably for the best. I have an "Oh no" box filled with mainly 45-90 cases I've ruined!

I followed the RCBS instructions as apposed to reading and it causes significant head space. Rather excessive to say the least!!

I'm curious, how can a FL die be set up to push the neck very far into the shoulder?

Wrong die in the press (larger caliber) with neck sizing button that centers on the neck of the case but is too large to slide into it.

Ok. But he said "Reloading 6PPC for the first time in a while and didn't set the die correctly" so that implies the correct 6 PPC die was involved.

Or does it look like this?

save it, put it in the die box with a note to remind yourself...I use one of those big plastic jars the pretzels come in to store "my greatest hits" in. to remind me of my lack of detail sometimes.
Cheers,
Doc
