Sightron S6 10-60 for short range benchrest?

I have a 66011 and a 66012 and both are used for BR @ 25yds, 50 yards and 100 yards. Pros are: great glass, uncluttered reticles, and will parallax down to 10yards. Only Cons I can think of is 60x is overkill but they are the only scope Sightron offers with the FTD and BD reticle that will go down to 10 yards. It is also a bit heavy but what 34mm 56mm tube isnt. The parallax adjustment can be a little stiff but the ships wheel they offer is ungodly expensive so I deal with it. It really isnt that bad, but if the wheel were cheaper, I would get one just to make it easier to fine adjust. Sweet spot for me on both scopes is about 35-40x zoom. It does get a little dim at 60x but what scope in that price range doesnt.

Slightly off topic...

I have always been of the opinion that you cannot (weather conditions permitting) have too much magnification or too large an Objective Lens at any range. Mirage does not lessen regardless of either's dimension. You just cannot see the mirage at lower power. But, it is still there. I try to shoot as soon as the "boil" stops.
At this time I have two of them on rifles. I mostly use them on live varmint guns, a 6-284, and my wildcat 257 Banshee (about a 25-300WM. I have two hits (first shot hit and kill) on a Rockchuck at 1012 and1017yds with the Banshee on a slightly overcast day, 75-degrees. Geovids made that possible with a full seasons shooting long yardages.

A young saxophone walked out of the subway going to the Jouilliard School of Music and asked a homeless man sitting at the street entrance, "how do I get to the School?". The man looked up at him and said "Practice man, practice...".

At any distance from 25yds out to the King of Two Miles, that's your answer.

If you are talking about using a 10.5lb gun for SR-BR, I would weigh your gun, then check the weight of the Sightron to see if it will work for you. I think Sightron makes a fixed 45 that may work if the 10-60 is too heavy. I use an older fixed 50 March.

Regards
Rick
