Sierra GameKing HPBT - Anyone using on game?

I stumbled across these 6.5mm Sierra 130gr HPBT GameKing bullets supposedly good for hunting. Has anyone used them on deer? How'd they perform?

I have a Kimber "LongMaster" in .308. I use the 165gr Sierra "GameKing" hollowpoint. It is about as accurate of a bullet as their "MatchKings" are. There is a NICE benefit to them a lot of people overlook.. It has a VERY short ogive and if I seat mine to magazine length, I can't EASILY close the bolt because the bullet is TOO FAR into the lands! So I did load testing to find that the rifle shoots best with the bullet JUST OFF the lands.. That also makes it easy to fit in the magazine! NO IT DOES NOT HAVE A HIGH B. C.! But it is VERY accurate and it opens up nicely and will "BLOW THRU" a deer OR PIG shot broadside thru the lungs!

I use the 85 gr GameKing in 243 very accurate with IMR 4350.
Does a good job on deer and Coy dogs out to 400 yards
Good Shooting

I shot the .308 165gr version for a while out of a 30-06. They are quite accurate for a hunting bullet. I think I shot a deer or two with it back in the 80's. They are a tougher bullet with a thicker jacket. Sierra has recommended them to be pushed at higher velocities, they are not fragile. For deer, I switched to Ballistic Tips because I like a quicker expanding bullet.

I could have not said it better. I found the same thing. These bullet are really accurate. I used them. 165 gr BTHP, in my M1 Garand for matches because I could not tell any difference between them and the 168 match kings and they were cheaper. I know a number of people that use the 85 BTHP for deer in 6mm caliber rifles with great success.

The 165 shot really well in my 308 hunting rifle. I switched to the soft point SGK after reading the comments about tuff jackets, but never got to shoot deer with both to see for myself.

I have been using this bullet for several years in 300 short mag, many years ago a good friend had problems this bullet being too stiff to open on deer in a 308 win, I bought a 75 sako in 300 short mag with a long freebore I could not get anything seated close to where I would like them to be and still work out of the mag. this 165 gameking would just kiss the rifling, and still work in the mag. I called sierra with concerns of past problems of not opening. I was assured that they would now open 308 win speeds. and they do, there is quite a few deer that has been taken with the 308. they also stay together out of the 300 short mag. in my 243 they are my go to bullet, gazzorp its dead. fear not a little lower bc, just hold a little higher

The 85 grain 6mm is a killing machine. I have shot a few deer with them and they kill. I also know of a few bears and they were all 1 shot kills. Matt

There are at least 5 friends and myself that are have had great accuracy and successful hunting with the 25-06 on deer and woodchucks with the Sierra 90gr HPBT Game King here in Upstate New York. 56.5gr IMR 4831 is our go to load.

I just worked up a load w/ those 6.5 130grBTHP in my 6,5x47 Lapua those thing shoot in the low .2's w/RL-17 going to hunt w/this load this season but the 85gr BTHP is all I use in my 243 that the killing thing I've every shot bar none!!!!!
