Anyone try the 110 SMK's yet?

My measurements from ones they sent me:
  • -- 110-SMK
  • 1.354" -- OAL
  • 0.210" -- BT Length
  • 0.196" -- BT Dia.
  • 0.322" -- Bearing
  • 0.822" -- Nose Length
  • 0.036" -- Meplat

Hey Donovan,
That is a short bearing surface for the length of that bullet which is about .100 longer than Berger 105
Hybrid. Berger Hybrids in Lot# 0018 that I have the bearing surface is .376.+/-
So, what do you think the free bore/ throat should be on the 110's?

In what cartridge are you asking for?

Edit:
Here is a 6Dasher and the 110-SMK seated "at touch" from a 0.160"-FB chamber (with 1000-rounds on it) in a Lapua made case:

WOW, that is a lot of FB. Looks like you could jump it a little, have you fired any yet?

My box just came in today. WOW this is not your old Sierra Match King in any way. The bearing length is really short, about .010" shorter than a 107SMK and about .075 shorter than a 115DTAC RBT. Great looking bullet, can't wait to try it!

Thinking of ordering some of these to try with a new Norma Dasher. I have the barrel on order, 7.5 twist Kreiger. I'm hearing it'll stabilize but I have my doubts when it's cold, etc. Wondering if the Dasher can push it fast enough when conditions aren't ideal?

I shot 5 of them yesterday in my 6x47 Lapua Krieger 8 twist 25 inch barrel and they all went through the target straight. 39 grains of R-16, CCI-450. MV 2952 and group measured .809. No load development, just the same load I have tried with 105 hybrids.
Some more info for the thread.
By the way, I am beginning to think maybe this R-16 might turn out to be something special.

I just received two boxes of the 110's of course they sent me from two different lot #. I went and weighed one box of them and then compared them from based to ogive. All 100 of them weighed from hi to low .586 grains difference. Take out the hi's and the low's, about 15 bullets and the majority of them were within .092 grains. I compared 20 of them base to ogive with a sinclair nut and a dial indicator. All but one of them were exactly the same. One was .001 shorter than the other 19. Just a small sample but they seem to be pretty consistent. I still believe they will need to be weight sorted as all sierra bullets.

I tried them in my 6BR-AI, looks very promising. Just need to run them across the mag speed to fine tune..

It's good to know that the 110s will shoot good enough out of a 1-8tw to at least hit point-on at 100yds, but what's the effective BC of these bullets going to be at long range with a lower stability factor? I've got a 6XC with 1-7.8 & 6x47 with 1-7.5tw, as well as an older 1-8 Dasher bbl that I recently set back & re-chambered with my 6x47 reamer. So getting one box of 110s direct from Sierra might tell me what I need to know by trying them in all three rifles out to 1000yds along side 105 Hybrids & old-style DTAC 115s. Would really like to get this done before heading for SHOT...

I just ordered 100 box of the 110's to try them in my 1-7 twist 6XC...Sierra says need 1-7 or faster?
has any one really tested these bullets yet? BC says .617 I am looking forward to trying them kind of a bad time of year for it but also a good time of year for it as the temp dips into the single digits. I have been able to push the 115 HVLD's out of it a 3,125 FPS.(RL26)..
