Check out Borden's new intermediate size action. There is a post with pictures in the main forum.Cost as much as Berger's now. The question is, do they perform like Berger's. A long action 308win is looking like a reality with all these long new 30 cal bullets.
With sierras 175 TMK being about 40.00 per 100, don't think the 195s will be over 48.00 per 100. The MSRP is always higher than online costs. Still much lower than most other match bullets of the same weight. Hornady being the exception...for now.Cost as much as Berger's now. The question is, do they perform like Berger's. A long action 308win is looking like a reality with all these long new 30 cal bullets.
Can't go by the MSRP... it is the MAP that is important.. that is the actual price.. now.. a vendor can sell for less than MAP.. just can't advertise that price lower than that MAP price.. Pricing can get to be a sticky subject..By the numbers the Berger 185 G1 BC is .576 and MSRP $62/100, the Berger 200 Hybrid G1 BC .616 and cost a couple bucks more. The new Sierra 195TMK boasts an advertised G1 BC of .610 and MSRP $51.19/100.
Looking at cost of bullets is (pun intended) pointless. If you're spending hundred thousands) of $$ on practice, components, travel costs, etc to shoot your best then the cost of the bullets should not be out-weighed by your confidence in the bullet you choose.
While Hornady is telling us about melting tips Sierra is touting a new line of supposed high BC match bullets with plastic tips.
I believe when Berger tells me their BC numbers and there is no wondering about tips.
Been shooting Berger 185s loaded pretty long in a short action. Definitely a long action could help. Unlike the 284, the 308 case is shorter and loading longer is a bit easier while still using a short action. The 195s will be even longer especially with the tipped version. The long action will be useful for anything much longer than that 185.Cost as much as Berger's now. The question is, do they perform like Berger's. A long action 308win is looking like a reality with all these long new 30 cal bullets.
I fully understand MAP/MSRP as I would see from my signature line. Yes, MSRP/MAP pricing is a sticky subject. I've seen dealers lose great product lines because of it. But not to derail the thread's mission. Can't go by the MSRP... it is the MAP that is important.. that is the actual price.. now.. a vendor can sell for less than MAP.. just can't advertise that price lower than that MAP price..
