Anyone try the 110 SMK's yet?

may be a stupid question, but going to a .236 bore vs a .237 in 6mm, would this increase the bc of the bullet? reasoning is that the extra .001 is squeezing the bullet and material of the bullet has to go somewhere, meaning lengthwise which could effect the BC?????

also, I see a guy on the hide shot the 110 smk in a .243AI out of a 8" twist barrel at 3200 fps out to 1800+ yards.

I just got 100 of them for testing..just looking at them they look very sleek...If weather permits I will spin a few of them out of my 1-7 twist 6XC...I doubt I will be able to get good long range info in one weekend but I hope to see if they will group well at 200 yards. So I hope to try a few loads and get a FPS reading. I haven't really seen to much about them yet and it seems a lot of guy have em...So....

Bad day at the range. ever happen to you?
well I loaded a few 110SMK's in my 6XC 1-7 twist it is the 6XC II chamber 160 FB...I checked my jam length and it was at 2.876 my AI mag in 2.800 so I loaded them at 2.790 they feed and function in my clip. It is also where I seat my Berger 115 HVLD's at 2.790...So sorry I did not shoot any in my 1-8 twist.
woke up to 30 deg F and freezing rain,my car had 1/6" of ice covering it..But I went.
Range readings were 31.0 deg F 84%RH and -383 FT elevation hum freezing rain foggy..I know they say the range is at 1,000 FT elevation but that is what my weather meter said..it is down in a hollow and cold dense wet air it was saying -383 FT so I just don't know about that ..I question it..I know in all my testing we are any where from 300 to 1,200 FT most of the time.. I cleaned my barrel...I loaded up the load of RL26 I shoot with the 115's 43.5grs . I loaded seven rounds..I had 15 loaded with 43.0gr and 115's I needed to shoot up...So I shot three round to foul the barrel and they were about a 1/2" group or slightly under..NORMAL..at 200 Yards. I set up the chrony ...And it was raining..lol...first shot got errr..
adjusted the chrony some...it was 2,934-2,923-2,912-2,915-2,923 #4 sporter I was having some trouble with heat rising off the barrel so I left that round sit in the chamber some at it lit off at 2.950. group was about 2" not good but I think they will shoot..just need to switch powders and stoke it up...So I fired a 43.0 gr load with a 115 and it read 2,978 then I fired a 43.5 gr an a 115 and it read 2,981 then I shot another 43.0 and a 43.5 2,962 and 2.942...I have chrony'ed that load 100 times at 3,100 FPS and even verified it with a Magnetospeed several times..Yes I have shot the load at 25 deg F to 80 deg F and it has not been more than 25 FPS difference....I also had a case head separation in another rifle I was shooting and the case was stuck in there so it shut that down..So I left the range today scratching my head....But I did shoot 7 110's and it did not like the load but i liked how they looked even if it was a little bigger than normal...All at 200 Yards. With the weather being what it is ...may not shoot tomorrow.

I would like to read up on that but I cant find it. Can you post a link please? Thanks.

I shot 110's in my dasher at 300 and 500. The load was 33.3 of varget jumped .020
5 shot group's. As near as I can measure them-300 was 1&1-8 at 500 it was 2& 1-8 have not gone back to the range and changed loads for a different day. My problem is on both distances I was getting alot of vertical. A guy shooting right to the side of me with the110 in a dasher was getting the same problem's. His load was 33.2 grains of varget with different coating on his bullets than mine with moly. Any help would be appreciated

hunter243sgk, no problem

robhen, what twist were the barrels?
twist is 7.5. Those groups we're 1.8 and 2.8 at 300 and 500. I am going down to my range today and try the same distance but with alot hotter loads to see if I can close up the vertical a little. If there is any signicant better today and you are interested I will let you know. My phone number is 208-280-8035 here in Idaho

I shot a few loads with them today 40.5 RL17 I had four in a hole about 1/4" at 200 yards had one get off a inch don't know what happened there. But they will shoot. I need some new brass.

they were right at 3,099 3,105....RL17 likes heavy neck tension..I am jumping like .086...if you read a earlier post.
I have not got a load figured out but they will shoot. IF you shoot light neck tension it seems 17 does not work well.

Have you shot the hotter loads yet?

My .243 Win (29.5" Krieger 8tw) shoots the 110smk's fairly well. I found two nodes between 41-41.4gr N165 (OAL 2.860) and 43-43.4g N165 (2.890 OAL). All groups shot .73 MOA or better (best was .42 MOA) at 100 and 200 yards. Top velocity averaged 3085fps at approx. 95F.
