Sierra Ammunition

I have purchased a lot of Lapua loaded ammo, but only from people on this site selling their old unused inventories. I have gotten some great deals on what apparently is ammo using Gold Box brass and bought it to shoot it and have the brass. I have been pleasantly surprised on the accuracy of Lapua's 6BR, 6.5x47 Lapua and .308 ammo. To buy regular retail is way up there.

Sierra does not own starline.
So does Starline own Sierra?.....or no connection what so ever? So if I am incorrect please elaborate vs. letting me know I am misinformed. I can find plenty of people that know me personally to call me clueless and I have the wrong information, don't need an internet stranger doing it.

I didnt call you clueless. I corrected incorrect info.
Sierra doesnt own starline. What else is there to elaborate on? Starline is family owned, Sierra is owned by Clarus corporation. Its on their websites. As Dusty said they are in the same town in Sedalia Missouri, and right next door to each other. No other connections.

From what I just read on Starline’s website, Starline was founded/started by three men with big ties to Sierra (1 ex-owner). Both Sierra and Starline relocated to Sedalia, Missouri and operate on land/ facilities on adjoinin properties. Does not appear they are co-owned or other management ties. With the co-located properties, I wouldn’t be surprised if Starline is contracted for the brass by Sierra.

Thank you for the detailed information, much appreciated. I sincerely apologize for spreading incorrect information, had read/heard many yrs ago there was a connection. Now I know otherwise.

Who cares? If your on this forum you probably reload anyways. Its crazy the price of ammo now days compared what you can reload it for, plus you can custom tailor for your gun. Factory ammo is for weekend warriors. Jmo. Just my pepeeve
Sweet story....

Star line is, and always has been owned by Bob and Barbara Hayden. Sierra, until recently was owned by BHH Managment, a group of three investors who held the company for thirty years or so. Most of that time, Bob Hayden was the President of Sierra, but not an owner in any way. Sierra moved to Sedalia, MO in 1990, taking up residence in a new plant at 1400 W. Henry St.. Barbara stayed in CA running Starline while they were in the process of setting up to move to MO as well. They made the move a year or so later, to their new plant located at 1300 W. Henry St., separated by a parking lot from Sierra Bullets. For the next 20 years or so, Bob Hayden could sit in his office at Sierra, and look out his window at the company he owned, and his wife and son ran. But no, there is no, direct business or ownership/relationship between the two companies. Since Hayden retired and BHH sold Sierra a while back, the only direct connection between them is their physical proximity.

Good info, thanks Kevin. But the question remains unanswered. Who is supplying Sierra with brass cases? Who is assembling the loaded ammo? Anyone have a head stamp photo of this ammo?

Couldn’t tell you, as I no longer have any connection with them. Aside from duty/carry ammo I haven’t bought any factory rounds in decades, and their offering it now isn’t going to change that. Just passing it along as a historical footnote . . ..

Dateline: Sedalia, MO.
Just a quick update, since a little bird whispered something in my ear; Starline is NOT supplying the cases used in Sierra ammunition.

That is so true, I started my 6.5x47 world around a 50 count box of Lapua 136 grn bullets, yes they shot great, but had to rob a bank to pay for them, $150.00 or 3 buck a pop. But the brass just keep going and going. I am at 12 loadings and they are still like new.
