New Ammunition Plant

Doesn't Fiocchi make primers also?
Several years back when we had one of the ammo debacles, Graf was able to get in a bunch of RWS SRP's in. They were great primers and I still have some of the 7,500 I bought. One would think that Lapua/Nammo/ Norma could get some of them in.

Rumor on the interwebs (which, if taken together with $.75 will buy you a coke) is that primers are coming in from overseas, but only to OEMs for ammo production.

Why? No clue.

Given that's happening, probably because the ammo plants have done the work to get the certificates for exporting and importing.

I would like to know if anyone knows the equipment lines that Primers are manufactured on? I am looking to see if I can obtain this knowledge as I have a client who would like to build a Primer manufacturing plant.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I am working with a client and they are looking to start manufacturing their own primers. They already manufactures ammo for small and large pistol as well as small and large rifle. They are looking to build out a couple Primer Manufacturing lines. The client falls under the ITAR Regulations.

Would be interested in learning the process and any help with the equipment manufacturers and or suppliers for primers.

Can you help please?

Thank you!

I can say I have been looking. As a person who has been working in the Energetic and Rocket fuel industry for 18 years, I only see there is only one company in the world at this point that builds out the production equipment for a full Primer line from the energetic mixing to the sealing. I am hoping to find an equipment supplier here in the USA and not have to go outside. I am seeking any full line of equipment manufactures for the Primers from energetic mixing to stamping the caps and assembling them to finish.

Again any help would be great.

I'll bite. I work on textile machines for a living so what i know is based on that. You are probably on the wrong site to find what you are looking for or maybe just to get posting numbers up for some reason. Machinest sites would probably be better. I'm gonna jump out and say if a primer cup stamper is not a one off machine it is probably based on a stamping machine engineered to be modular for various customers. Either way you better get going because you are going to have a long long long wait to get either. Surely any stamping machine manufacturer can set you up for cups and anvils one would think but again I'm only going off the machines I know. As for the assembly and filling I havent a clue. Since they already make ammo they should know where to get what they need unless they are just a small setup running some Mark 7s or something. Any manufacturing facility has already has or needs a machine shop on hand and if they do machine venders numbers should be on hand. Dig out the old rolladex and call some numbers.

There are 3 companies that came on line in the last few years, with brass stamping machinery.
Alpha
ADG
Peterson
Could be that one or all 3 would be interested in investing money/know how in this kind of project. They also have contacts with the machinery manufacturers

Yup. About 6 miles down the road. I have a good friend that works there. He says all of the primers are going into the production of ammo. I said, “what ammo?” and he just shrugged his shoulders and nodded......

Not for public consumption.

We no longer have a domestic lead mining industry (primers have lead). We barely have a mining industry for steel (like to make barrels).

How is this NOT a "national security issue" as the cable news shills like to say?

I see wholesale type places like Target Sports are selling loaded rifle ammo for over $2 around for calibers like .243 Win. I don’t see hunters hoarding this at that price, and supply should catch up fairly fast.
I’ve been looking for .243 ammo for a loooong time. None to be found. I’d like to see a picture of ammo in stock.
