Is it a highly fragile varmint bullet?A 69 tmk easy peasy
I have had mixed results. But end result is the same. Dead pretty quickIs it a highly fragile varmint bullet?
That was written by my buddy Cache.Sierra will soon release the 69 Blitzking bullets.
Nothing too exciting but did initial seating depth tests with the 62 eld-vt and the Sierra 69 blitzking this afternoon in a 22 br barrel Bradley did for me. Just guessed at powder load for each test.
I’m guessing I should have done powder first on the eld-vt as 29 grains of n140 was ok but nothing special. I suspect it wants more speed. 3 shot groups all ok and under an inch but nothing revealing on seating depth preference. All average, all the same. Will go the powder load method next with these.
The blitzking was a different story. Testing load was 30.5 of n150. No pressure signs but at a hair under 3,300fps I may be on upper end. Got lucky and I’m probably near my final load as everything from .015 in from touch to .015 jump produced three shot groups where almost every round touched. 44 shot group on the day at 7.7 sd so I’m close and hopeful n150 will work. Groups opened up a little (still good) until .06, and .07 jump which dotted up again.
Interesting to me at least is my first clean cold bore was 85 fps below the average velocity. I shot four additional foulers at touch to get started and those were the best group of the day.
I did a small and quick measurement when I got the blitzkings in, direct from Sierra and found them uniform in length and weight, with most the same weight with the outliers still ok for varmint loads. Posted it somewhere on here when I got them in.
Main takeaway is my initial thoughts are the 69 blitzkings are good to go, and in my barrel they like to be closer in. Will follow up when I get a little further along.
