Sierra 25cal 131gr HPBT

Yep, no more or less them than you. Just because someone says that doesn't mean it's accurate or couldn't change at any point in the future. Maybe that's how they positively mark 2nd's so they can't be passed off as 1st's. Or for that matter anyone from manu to seller, any of them could add those marks. Assuming they are even there on the product. We'll see soon enough!

Regardless, how they shoot is all that matters.

Bulletman has looked at and shot more sierra bullets than probably anyone else in existence.

Why would any bullet manufacturer go through a different step just for them to be labeled seconds?

I never said they did and just because a company has never done anything in the past doesn't mean they never will in the future, we see that all the time from companies. Unless it's released or leaked out of Midway we may never know who made these even if they show up and look exactly like Sierra.

Um yeah what's in the sales picture and description is NOT what I got today. :D
Just another example of don't believe everything you read!

Already made another order. -- Jeff

I sample weighed 10 or so, might need to sort em but otherwise they all look fine to me. Just not purdy.
low 130.96
high 131.18
most were 131.02-131.06
some tarnished more than others, some not much.

Thank you ! Ordered another 1k

Back in the 90's we were skeptical of the Nosler 2nd's until we got some and tried em. After that we bought a slug every time they had em available. Sometimes a person just has to get some and see, then if they work out hope there's still a bunch left so you can order lots more.

Next question is when will you be testing them?

Nosler was the company that Midway sold blem bullets for. They were listed as bonded copper jacketed bullets (partitions) but with a cannelure. They actually used the word Partition and with a cannelure there was doubt about that description. Turned out there was a cannelure and they were in fact Nosler Partitions. It's always possible for anything to be the case that's not the norm. This run will end quickly. I'd recommend those that want the bullets, get them ASAP. They won't last like the BJ bullets didn't. It's fortunate that Sierra will be continuing the production of the 131 BJ under Sierra's name. Just much pricier.

not any time soon, I don't currently have a 25 but been planning one so this was a no brainer.

@284winner yeah we got all ours directly via shootersproshop which back then was part of Nosler before they spun it off only to bring it back in-house recently. I still have some 7mm 160gr Partitions, but mostly .224 BT, thousands of those in 40/50gr and so glad I held on to them.

SVT,

thanks for the data. Looks like a fun afternoon sitting at the kitchen table sorting by .1gr.
Due to this thread I just helped my lovely wife get my Christmas present bought. I ordered a thousand from Midway about 15 minutes ago.
In 1990 I wanted a 1000 yard Rockchuck and Coyote rifle. I found the 6,5x68mm Shuler cartridge. Neck it down to 25 caliber, blow out the taper, sharpen the shoulder to 35-degrees, and get Jef Fowler to make me some 110gr VLD-style bullets from a set of Jerry Siminson (sp?) dies. A company in Missouri called River Valley Ordnance had surplus powders cheap. I bought two 8lb jugs of RVO-62 ($64 a jug + shipping, and I was in business. They claimed it was a good fit for the 300 Win Mag. It worked perfectly, my wildcat case held 90gr of the stuff.
I was writing for Precision Shooting Magazine at the time. The Editor, David Brennan was Irish, so I tickled the dragon and called my cartridge the .257 Banshee. I built a sleeved 700 long action with a 30" 1.25" cylindrical Lilja barrel.

I am going to rebarrel the original, at roughly 1800 rounds and one set back, it is barely MOA now past 400 yards. I have a 1:7.5" barrel coming.

I would like to thank all of you who posted, it has gotten me back on the .25 caliber bandwagon.

Checked this morning and the seconds are gone. Glad I got 2k. Will be shooting the 25 saw this weekend. Looks like I may have some tomorrow to try out.

I'm sure I'll probably wish the same at some point down the road. Clicking the link not only shows no longer available, but they changed the price too. Which is a bit odd if it was a one time thing. Maybe they didn't want people seeing that 23c price and kicking themselves.

It was a teaser that Sierra put out there. They want to see how desirable these will be before going all out on the true 131 Sierra SMK bullet. They didn't do a huge run in those yet. Obviously they will sell the Hell out of them. They replaced the Blackjack bullet and many chambered their .257 rifles with the BJ reamer. I think in the end, Sierra will be pleased that the BJ company is history.
